How a drone roof survey works in Neithrop

We carry out drone roof surveys in Neithrop and across London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Common reasons to book are cracked mortar along the ridge and eroded pointing on a chimney stack, on large and complex roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and tall and steep roofs.

In smaller places like Neithrop, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from the ground. The parts you can’t see, such as rear slopes, valleys and chimney tops, are where a drone or thermal camera adds detail. Both depend on the weather on the day. Close-up images frequently show wear on ridges, verges and flashings that can’t be judged properly from ground level.

The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

Common questions in Neithrop

Is my home in Neithrop listed or in a conservation area?

For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.

Will you come out to Neithrop?

Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned ahead of time.

Will you go up on the roof?

Only when it is safe. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where it applies let us see the rest, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.

How long does a drone roof survey take?

The visit usually takes an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. We’ll give you an idea of timing as you book.

What does the report include?

It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, with photographs throughout. Anything we couldn’t see safely is noted too.

Do I need to be at home?

Not necessarily. An outside-only look can be arranged beforehand, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.

What does a roof survey cost?

Our price is from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before you book, based on the roof’s size, access and package. To get a price, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Useful tips for Neithrop property owners

You don’t need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:

  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
  • Check the loft can be reached
  • Allow for a change of day in poor weather

Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It helps you see how the roof has changed over the year, and whether work has done its job.

Keep the roof space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.

What a drone roof survey does not cover

Every survey has limits, and we’d rather be clear about that before booking. Bear these in mind:

  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • Flights in a restricted zone without permission

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll suggest the right survey before you book. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Fragile roofs

Should I look at the roof myself first?

A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.

Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

Flying and imaging in Neithrop

Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The wider area around Neithrop has a long history of building, with Broughton Castle about 1.8 miles south-west. If yours is one of the older homes, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.

Shop and office owners around Castle Quay Shopping Centre may find that thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof. Take a building like St Joseph's Catholic Primary School: big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Neithrop?

Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. The drone covers the surface area by area. You see the whole roof, not just the parts near an access point.

Here are some of the things we see frequently:

  • Chimney tops in poor condition
  • Plant growth and moss on the roof
  • Debris building up in hidden gutters
  • Lead work pulling away at abutments

For an older house near a landmark like St Paul's Church Centre, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What follow-up you get after the report
  • When you will get the report
  • What exactly goes into their report
  • Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see

What to expect from a roof survey

What happens on the day

When we arrive, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you want to find out. After that, we check everything we can see safely, using the ground, windows, the loft and a drone where applicable. Most surveys take an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Parking around Neithrop is typically easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. Low roofs on bungalows can often be seen well from the ground, and the loft shows the rest.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

How to prepare
