Drone roof survey in Green Hailey
Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. The camera stays on your roof, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is joined to a neighbour’s, it’s worth letting them know about the visit. We inspect only what the owner has asked us to. Each flight is kept short and stays focused on the roof we’re there to survey. We’re often asked to look into cracked mortar along the ridge and standing water on a flat roof, across chimney stacks, fragile roofs and tall and steep roofs.
Somewhere as small as Green Hailey, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

Drone roof surveys in Green Hailey: local notes
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Some villages in Buckinghamshire still have thatched roofs. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place.
If you look after a building like Monks Risborough CofE Primary School, big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.
Green Hailey is about 7 miles south of Aylesbury, in Buckinghamshire. In Green Hailey, as across Buckinghamshire, every roof gets the same careful survey. Our Buckinghamshire coverage includes Green Hailey. You can also see our page for Oxford.

What else we do in Green Hailey
What we do, step by step
A survey visit follows a simple order: we listen to what’s been worrying you, inspect the roof from every safe vantage point, photograph what we find and record our findings for the written report. It usually takes an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Around Green Hailey, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so tell us about the loft hatch and any ladder. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Before the survey
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Green Hailey
Not every roof can take a person’s weight. Old slates and clay tiles crack underfoot, and fragile sheet roofs are dangerous to walk on. A drone lets us see them closely without touching them.
People typically book a survey when they’ve noticed one of these:
- Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
- Ridge pieces that have lifted
Take an older house close to Church of St Dunstan: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps.
Before you book any roof surveyor
- What the report includes, and whether it has photographs
- Are they insured for the work?
- Is there a chance to talk the report through?
- Whether VAT is in the quoted price
What this survey can’t tell you
This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer before booking. The full list of what we check.

Checking the roof from ground level
Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Do not go up yourself.
You can learn a lot from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
How the survey changes by roof type
Chimney stacks
Our drone check of a chimney is visual, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. If the flue needs a specialist, we’ll tell you.
Valleys and parapet gutters
Valleys and parapet gutters are hidden from the street. A drone shows linings, joints and build-ups of debris.
FAQs for Green Hailey
Will you come out to Green Hailey?
Yes, Green Hailey is covered. We work right across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned ahead of time.
Are there drone restrictions around Green Hailey?
Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
How long does the survey take?
Expect it to take between one and two hours at a typical home, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. You will then get the report by email.
What will the report tell me?
It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, and ends with what we recommend. The most urgent items are made clear.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. Visible signs like deflection or sagging are recorded, but we do not provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. The report will say if you need an engineer.
Do I need to be at home?
Not always. If we only need the outside, we can agree that in advance, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.
How much does a drone roof survey cost in Green Hailey?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. Our three packages are Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, inc. VAT.
