How a drone roof survey works in Hattingley

We carry out drone roof surveys in Hattingley and across London and the South East, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form. We’re often asked to look into lead work pulling away at abutments and standing water on a flat roof, on flat roofs on upper floors, large and complex roofs and chimney stacks.

Somewhere as small as Hattingley, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from ground level. Weather and airspace are looked at before the visit. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Hattingley?

Walking on some roofs does more harm than good. Older slates and tiles break easily, and some sheet roofs are fragile. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.

A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:

  • Ridge pieces that have lifted
  • Flashings that have come away
  • Debris building up in hidden gutters
  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone

Take a building like Medstead Church of England Primary School: a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Before booking anyone

  • Are they insured for the work?
  • What follow-up you get after the report
  • Is VAT included in the price?
  • Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?

What to expect from a roof survey

What a drone roof survey looks like in Hattingley

Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that is where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

Bentworth Hall lies about 1.9 miles north-east, so building around Hattingley goes back a long way. Photos from the air and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it. If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near Church of St Andrew, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

When you need someone else

Our survey isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:

  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • Flights in a restricted zone without permission

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will point you to the right survey. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Fragile roofs

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Hattingley

Will you come out to Hattingley?

Yes, Hattingley is covered. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.

Is drone flying allowed in Hattingley?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?

Our cover is professional indemnity plus public liability, and we can provide details if a managing agent needs them.

Will you check the loft?

If it is needed and safe to reach, yes. We look for staining, damp, daylight and signs of movement.

What do I do with the report?

You’ll get the report by email. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.

How do I book a survey in Hattingley?

The quickest way is to phone 07833 053749 or email us. Give us the address and some details about the roof. We survey on weekdays and at weekends.

How long have you been surveying roofs?

Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys.

Why it’s worth a survey now in Hattingley

From ground level, you are guessing about most of a tall roof. Close-up photos show what’s really there, slope by slope. It is far easier to plan work when you can see the problem. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on how big and how high the roof is, how it can safely be seen and the package you choose.

Why book us in Hattingley

  • Drone and thermal imaging surveys available
  • Customer satisfaction of 98%
  • Drone flown under a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
  • An independent view of the roof

See our cost guide or our case studies.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.

A lot can be seen from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.

What we look for on each type of roof

Large commercial roofs

Big roofs on offices, warehouses and units take time to inspect. The drone covers the roof area by area.

Valleys and parapet gutters

Valleys and parapet gutters are hidden from the street. From above, we can see the linings, the joints and any debris.

How the survey works

We look at the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there is safe access, from inside the loft space too. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement, as far as the space allows. The whole visit typically takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Rural addresses near Hattingley can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Before the survey

  • Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • For flats, check roof access has been agreed
