Drone roof survey in Holt End
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We’ll tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, chimney stacks and tall and steep roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are chimney tops in poor condition and flat roofs on upper floors that hold water.
Somewhere as small as Holt End, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from the ground. Weather and airspace are checked before the visit. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

How the survey works
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. Most visits take an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a hamlet or village like Holt End, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
- We also look inside the roof space where it’s safe.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Before the survey
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors

Roof by roof
Large commercial roofs
Large commercial roofs cover a lot of ground. The drone covers the roof area by area, so nothing is skipped.
Chimney stacks
Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. We record what we find with photos.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and a fall can be serious. That is where a survey comes in.
You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please do not climb up for a closer look.
Landlords, agents and block managers in Holt End
Letting agents can arrange access with tenants, at a time agreed in advance. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, which can make access easier.
With a portfolio of properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To arrange surveys for several addresses, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
What affects the price in Holt End
To price your survey, we look at:
- Roof area
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
The cost of a survey depends on the roof: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how it can be reached and seen safely. Prices start from £400, including VAT.
What to let us know when you contact us
Before you get in touch, it’s useful to have:
- Any photos you have, taken from the ground or a window
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors

When to book a survey in Holt End
Chimney tops take the worst of the weather. Cracked flaunching, loose pots and eroded pointing are frequently invisible from below. Close-up drone photos show their condition.
We’re often asked to look at:
- Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
- Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
Take a building like St Mary's Bentworth Church of England Primary School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether you can ask questions once you have the report
- Is VAT included in the price?
- Are they insured for the work?
- How long they’ve been surveying roofs
Holt End questions
How do I find out if my home in Holt End is listed?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.
Is drone flying allowed in Holt End?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Lasham Airfield is about 3 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. Our survey is not a structural engineer’s report. We will recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.
What happens after the survey?
The report comes by email, and you decide the next step: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.
Will you go up on the roof?
Only when it is safe. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. We use safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.
How many surveys have you done?
Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. We check the parts we’re given access to.
