Drone roof survey in Kencot
A drone can see more than your roof, so we take care. The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is joined to a neighbour’s, it’s worth letting them know about the visit. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. Typical surveys look at damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below and loose ridge and hip tiles, across flat roofs on upper floors, large and complex roofs and tall and steep roofs.
Somewhere as small as Kencot, older roofs are frequently steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned ahead of time. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.
We keep jargon out of it: if work is needed, the report says so clearly.

When you need someone else
Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll recommend the right survey. What our survey covers.

How we price drone roof surveys
When we price a survey, we consider:
- The shape of the roof and its details
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- How many separate roofs there are, like extensions, dormers and garages
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before booking.
Helping us price your survey
These details help when you get in touch:
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- The address and postcode of the property
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
- The kind of building and roof involved
Not sure which survey you need? The easiest way is to call 07833 053749 or send us an email and describe the roof and what’s worrying you. We will talk you through the options and what they cost.
Signs you need a drone roof survey in Kencot
Hidden gutters and valleys are easy to overlook. Leaves, silt and plant growth build up unseen, until water overflows inside. From above, they’re easy to see.
We are often asked to look at:
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Peter's Church of England School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Whether VAT is in the quoted price
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
- Whether the roof space is looked at, where there is one
- Their insurance cover
Why get it checked now?
Leaving a slipped slate or a blocked valley can turn a small fault into a leak. Spotting them early keeps the work smaller. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. That is one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.
The cost of a survey depends on the roof: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how it can be reached and seen safely. Our price is from £400, including VAT.

What we do, step by step
Where it is relevant and can be reached safely, the roof space is checked as well as the outside. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey normally takes about one to two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Older roofs in small places like Kencot can have low, tight loft spaces, so tell us about the loft hatch and any ladder. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- We also look inside the roof space where it is safe.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Getting ready for the survey
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
- Find any records of previous roof work

Related advice
Checking the roof from the ground
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
Your questions about drone roof surveys in Kencot
Is Kencot within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is my home in Kencot listed or in a conservation area?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
How much is a survey?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The final figure depends on the roof and the package you choose, and it is agreed before booking.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only where it is safe to do so. We look at everything that can safely be seen: from the ground, from windows, from inside the loft space, from the roof where it is safe and by drone where applicable. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.
Do drone rules differ in central London?
It depends where in central London. Restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs need NATS permission before a flight. Every address is checked first, and fall back on other viewpoints if we can’t fly.
How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Kencot?
Simply ring 07833 053749 or email us. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. We don’t carry out asbestos surveys or testing. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, like cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings, and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.
