Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Kings Worthy
Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs cannot always be inspected up close. Our drone roof survey gets a camera close to them without anyone climbing. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail. The photos go into a written report. It is also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. Where a flight is not possible, we explain why. We’re often asked to look into cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below and flat roofs on upper floors that hold water, on tall and steep roofs, chimney stacks and large and complex roofs.
Somewhere as small as Kings Worthy, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned ahead of time. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.
The report does not just list problems. It explains what we found, why it matters and what we recommend.

What we are asked to look at in Kings Worthy
After storms, owners want to know what has moved. It is hard to tell from below what has shifted. A drone shows what has slipped, lifted or gone.
These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
- Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Whether VAT is in the quoted price
- Their report turnaround times
- Is there a chance to talk the report through?
- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
What we cannot see
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so there are some things a survey cannot cover:
- Flights in strong wind or heavy rain
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll point you to the right survey. What our survey covers.

Drone roof surveys in Kings Worthy: local notes
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.
If you look after a building such as Kings Worthy Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Questions from Kings Worthy
Will you come out to Kings Worthy?
Yes, Kings Worthy is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.
Is my home in Kings Worthy listed or in a conservation area?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. Visible signs such as deflection or sagging are recorded, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. If one is needed, the report says so.
Does someone need to be in?
That depends on the survey. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in, while outside access can be discussed when booking.
Will the drone film my neighbours?
Privacy is taken seriously on every flight. We photograph your roof, not your neighbours’ property. It is worth telling neighbours about the flight.
How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Kings Worthy?
It’s easiest to call 07833 053749 or email us. Give us the address and some details about the roof, and we will recommend the right survey. Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

What we do, step by step
You don’t need to do much on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, such as stains, drips or loose pieces, and we will get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes about one to two hours on an ordinary house, and more on a big or complicated roof. Somewhere like Kings Worthy needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. On the day, we inspect what can be seen safely, inside and out.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- We arrange any permission that is needed before we fly.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
Booking a survey
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, so call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the details.
Advice
How the survey changes by roof type
Valleys and parapet gutters
A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. You cannot see it from the street at all, but it is plain to see from the air.
Ridges and hips
Ridges and hips are the most exposed parts of a pitched roof. From above, we can see loose ridges and missing mortar.
DIY checks: what’s safe
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey.
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
Tips from our surveys
Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:
- Expect a little longer if permission is needed
- Let us know what you want to see
- Keep dogs indoors during the visit
- Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet
Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It helps you see how the roof has changed over the year.
Keep the loft space ventilated. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.
