About our drone roof survey in Temple Valley

Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. Our drone roof survey gets a camera close to them without anyone climbing. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail. The photos go into a written report. It is also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. Where a flight isn’t possible, we explain why. If you’re worried about slates or tiles shifted by high winds and blocked valleys and parapet gutters, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.

In a village or hamlet like Temple Valley, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned in advance. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

We keep jargon out of it: where something needs attention, it says so plainly, along with how urgent it is.

Temple Valley: your questions answered

Is drone flying allowed in Temple Valley?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.

Will you come out to Temple Valley?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our area covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. Visible signs like deflection or sagging are recorded, but we don’t provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. If one is needed, the report says so.

Do you need to get into the loft?

If it is needed and safe to reach, yes. Inside, we look for damp, staining, gaps and sagging, as far as the space allows.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in if we are looking inside or in the loft. We will talk about access when booking.

How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Temple Valley?

Just ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day, weekday or weekend.

What will the report tell me?

A written report with photos, covering the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend, with the most urgent first where relevant. The Standard Survey adds moisture detection and a structural check, and the Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies and structural analysis.

Drone roof surveys around Temple Valley

Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place.

Around Temple Valley, as everywhere, small roof faults are simplest to sort before they let water in. Historic houses such as Hinton Ampner House, about 4.2 miles east, show how far back building around Temple Valley goes. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings.

What happens on the day

The visit has one job: to see as much of the roof as can safely be seen and record it clearly. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. It typically takes about one to two hours at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. Somewhere as small as Temple Valley, access is frequently the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey
  • Leave a clear route to the loft

Advice

What you can safely check yourself

Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

Roof by roof

Valleys and parapet gutters

Blocked outlets in hidden gutters cause many leaks. Outlets and any debris around them are photographed.

Large commercial roofs

Fragile roof sheets and roof lights can be dangerous to walk on. With a drone, nobody has to go near them.

Leave it or get it looked at?

With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. You can show exactly where the problem is. For an older or listed building in a place like Temple Valley, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The final price depends on the size and height of the roof, access and the package you choose.
