Drone roof survey in Little End: what you get

Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We will tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photos. If you’ve noticed vegetation in valleys and gutters and gaps where slates or tiles have gone, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.

Somewhere as small as Little End, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

The report does not just list problems. For each finding, it explains what it is, why it matters and what we’d recommend, so you can plan your next steps.

Flying and imaging in Little End

Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Hill Hall, about 3.3 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Little End. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years.

Take an older house close to Church of St Margaret of Antioch: thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

What we do, step by step

You do not need to do much on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, like stains, drips or loose pieces, and we will take it from there. The survey itself takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Somewhere as small as Little End, access is frequently the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
  4. We also look inside the roof space where it’s safe.
  5. You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Find any records of previous roof work
  • For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed
  • Move anything stored under the loft hatch

Booking a survey

Practical tips

Some practical points come up on survey after survey. They apply to most roofs:

  • Keep pets indoors during the flight
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
  • Let us know the exact address when booking
  • Check there is room outside for the drone to take off

File the report and photos with your home documents. They give you something to compare against later, and they help if you sell.

Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, and early repairs keep water out.

Roof by roof

Valleys and parapet gutters

Valleys and parapet gutters are hidden from the street. From above, we can see the linings, the joints and any debris.

Large commercial roofs

Older cement sheet roofs may contain asbestos. We don’t test for it, but we flag it and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.

Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when you book, as it helps us focus the survey.

Little End questions

Do you cover smaller places like Little End?

Yes, Little End is covered. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Are there drone restrictions around Little End?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

What does the report include?

Written findings with photographs, covering the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend, by urgency where it matters. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies and structural analysis.

Will you go up on the roof?

Only where it’s safe to do so. We look at everything that can safely be seen: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the loft space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where applicable. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.

Will you photograph what you find?

Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.

How many surveys have you done?

We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs, and 98% of clients are satisfied.

Does the weather affect the survey?

A survey can usually go ahead in light rain, and it can even help show where water is getting in. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so we will agree a new date if the weather isn’t suitable.
