Need a drone roof survey in Little Parndon?

What we do, step by step

Where it’s relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey usually takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Parking around Little Parndon is usually easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. Low roofs on bungalows can frequently be seen well from ground level, and the loft shows the rest.

  1. We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
  2. If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

About our drone roof survey in Little Parndon

Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs can’t always be inspected up close. A drone takes close-up photos of those roofs from the air. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly, including slopes that can’t be seen from the street. Everything we find goes into a written report with photos. It also suits roofs that would be damaged by someone walking on them. Where a flight is not possible, we explain why. Common reasons to book are hidden gutters full of leaves and loose ridge and hip tiles, on large and complex roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and chimney stacks.

Older cottages and houses around Little Parndon may have little insulation, and some have extensions with their own roofs. Thermal patterns and close-up photos together give a fuller picture of the roof. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.

With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Different roofs, different checks

Chimney stacks

From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. We record what we find with photos.

Valleys and parapet gutters

Some older terraces have a butterfly roof with a valley in the middle. It is almost impossible to see from the ground, but a drone shows it clearly.

When to book a survey in Little Parndon

Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Debris collects where nobody looks, until water overflows inside. From above, they’re easy to see.

Things that often lead to a survey include:

  • Cracked mortar along the ridge
  • Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
  • Flashings that have come away
  • Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below

If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Are they insured for the work?
  • How much experience they have with roofs like yours
  • Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
  • How soon the report will arrive

What a good roof survey covers

Before and after the survey

A little preparation and a few simple habits help, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Some pointers:

  • Make sure the loft can be reached
  • Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone
  • Keep pets indoors during the flight
  • Let us know what you want to see

You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to go through what the drone showed. You can ask about anything that isn’t clear.

Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, and early repairs keep water out.

Why get it checked now?

Close-up photos make conversations with roofers clearer. They show the location and extent of each defect, which helps when you ask for quotes. Arranging work in a smaller place like Little Parndon is easier with notice than in an emergency. Knowing early gives you time to get the right people in.

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where applicable, from £400 with VAT included. We can help you choose the package that fits what you need to know.

DIY checks: what’s safe

Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

Drone roof surveys in Little Parndon: local notes

The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. Little Parndon is part of Harlow, one of the post-war new towns. Homes from the post-war decades are common in the new towns, many with low-pitched roofs in concrete tiles and flat-roofed garages or porches. Low pitches and flat-roofed additions are hard to see from ground level, so aerial and thermal views add detail.

Take a building like Little Parndon Primary School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Little Parndon questions

How do I find out if my home in Little Parndon is listed?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it’s worth checking before planning any.

Is Little Parndon within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.

How soon will I get the report?

The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email.

Is a drone roof survey a thermal survey?

The drone survey is a photographic inspection. Thermal imaging is a separate check, included in our Premium Survey.

How experienced are you?

We have more than 20 years’ experience and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.

Does the drone show the underside of the roof?

No. A drone shows the outside surfaces of the roof in close detail, but not the loft or the underside. We look in the loft from inside where it is safe.

What’s the best way to book?

Simply phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day.
