Meopham Drone Roof Survey
Drone roof surveys across Meopham, backed by more than 20 years’ experience. Every survey ends with a written report and photos.
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Ridge pieces that have lifted
Do you need a drone roof survey in Meopham?
The top of a stack is the most exposed part of many roofs. From ground level, you rarely see cracked flaunching or loose pots. A drone gets close enough to see them in detail.
Here are some of the things we see frequently:
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
For an older house near a landmark such as Parish Church of St John the Baptist, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Whether you can ask questions once you have the report
- How they’ll see the roof: from the ground, the loft, the roof or by drone
- What’s outside the scope of the survey
- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
Drone roof survey in Meopham: what you get
Drone roof surveys are available in Meopham and throughout London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, call 07833 053749 or email us with the address. We are often asked to look into moss building up on slopes and in gutters and slipped or missing slates on a high roof, on fragile roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and large and complex roofs.
Even in a smaller place like Meopham, there may be airfields or restrictions nearby, so the Drone Safety Map is checked before any flight. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly. Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning each flight, along with the airspace and the weather.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent.

What a survey costs
Prices always include VAT. The things that change the price are:
- Roof area
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. We will give you the figure before anything is booked.
What we need to know
You do not need to know any roofing terms. It’s enough to tell us:
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
- The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, and you can call 07833 053749 or email us to find out.
How it works
We’ll ask a few questions first, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. Then the inspection itself takes between one and two hours on an ordinary house; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. Some parts of a survey depend on the weather, so a visit to Meopham is booked with the forecast in mind: drone flights and thermal imaging need the right conditions, while a look from ground level and the loft can go ahead in most weather.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
How to prepare
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
- Leave side gates unlocked
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey

FAQs for Meopham
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Meopham?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Is drone flying allowed in Meopham?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.
Will you check the loft?
Yes, where the survey calls for it and there is safe access. Inside, we look for damp, staining, gaps and sagging.
How many surveys have you done?
We have more than 20 years’ experience and have completed over 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
What does the report include?
A photo-illustrated written report, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations, with the most urgent first where relevant. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Let us know which days suit you when booking.
Does the report include photos?
Yes, plenty. Pictures sit next to the findings they show, which makes the report easy to follow.
Practical tips
There is plenty you can do without going near the roof. What helps most:
- Check the loft can be reached
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- Book early if you’re near an airport
- Tell us the exact address as you book
With the Premium Survey, the report arrives the same day. Drone photos are included where we could fly, alongside the other checks in the package.
Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, so small faults are dealt with early.
How the survey changes by roof type
Steep slate and tile slopes
Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. The drone sees them without touching them.
Ridges and hips
Some ridges are fixed with mortar, others with dry-fix systems. Their condition is noted in the report.
Drones, thermal imaging and Meopham roofs
The wider area around Meopham has a long history of building, with Cobham College about 1.8 miles north-east. On older houses around here, roofs often carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material. Older houses across Kent often have handmade clay or peg tiles, and many have tile-hung walls. You’ll also find oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses among the county’s older buildings. Steep or complicated roofs are frequently hard to see from the ground, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.
Take a building like Meopham Community Academy: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
