How a drone roof survey works in Milcombe

Drone roof surveys are available in Milcombe and throughout London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly on any day of the week. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address. Common reasons to book are storm damage on steep or tall roofs and blistered or cracked flat roof coverings, across fragile roofs, tall and steep roofs and chimney stacks.

Somewhere as small as Milcombe, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

Most points in the report come with a picture, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.

Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when you book and it will help the survey.

What affects the price in Milcombe

Several things affect the price of a survey:

  • Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings

Every price we give includes VAT. Our price is from £400, including VAT. You’ll know the price for your roof before booking.

Getting in touch

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Where water is showing inside, if it is
  • Your timetable, like an exchange date
  • The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
  • The address and postcode of the property

To book a survey, ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address and what you’d like to know about the roof. We’ll confirm the price before you book.

Tips from our surveys

Here are a few things we’d tell any owner, before and after a survey:

  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
  • Make sure there is room outside for the drone to take off
  • Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone

There’s a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit, and whether work has done its job.

Don’t block the vents at the eaves. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Make sure insulation does not block the airflow.

FAQs for Milcombe

Is my home in Milcombe listed or in a conservation area?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it is worth checking before planning any.

Is Milcombe within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.

How long does the visit take?

It usually takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. That includes the checks before the drone goes up.

How much is a survey?

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package, and it’s agreed before booking.

I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?

Yes, if whoever owns or manages the building agrees access. We check the parts we are given access to.

What will the report tell me?

Written findings with photos, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations, by urgency where it matters. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.

Will you go up on the roof?

Only where it is safe to do so. We check everything that can be seen safely: from the ground, from windows and vantage points, from the roof space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where it applies. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.

How the survey works

Where it is relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging. All in, the survey typically takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Rural addresses near Milcombe can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. If the loft can be reached safely, it’s checked too.
  5. You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Clear the way to the loft hatch
  • If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
  • Dig out any old roof reports or invoices

Getting a price

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, so phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the details.

For landlords and managing agents

Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, putting the urgent items at the top.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Milcombe

Many roofs are never seen properly from the ground. You cannot see the back slope, the valleys or the chimney tops. Faults there can go unnoticed for years.

People normally book a survey when they’ve noticed something like this:

  • Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
  • Ridge and hip pieces working loose
  • Standing water on a flat roof
  • Vegetation in valleys and gutters

The streets around a church like Church of St Lawrence are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
  • How they plan to inspect the roof safely
  • What follow-up you get after the report
  • What exactly goes into their report

What a good roof survey covers

Drones, thermal imaging and Milcombe roofs

About 2.2 miles north lies Broughton Castle, a reminder of how long the area around Milcombe has been built on. Older homes in the wider area frequently have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.

If you look after a building such as Bloxham Church of England Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.
