Tips that help

These tips come from what we see on roofs every week, before and after a survey:

  • Check the loft can be reached
  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
  • Tell us about any leaks or concerns

Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos from the flight. Each finding is explained in plain words, and recommendations are ranked by urgency where that helps.

Keep the loft space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up, and it is something only an inside check will show. Check insulation doesn’t block the airflow.

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Burdrop

Drone surveys suit tall houses, blocks of flats, steep roofs and large commercial roofs. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on, such as old slate, clay tiles or cement sheets. You get close-up views without anyone setting foot on the roof. Before the visit, we check the address for any airspace restrictions that apply. We will tell you if another approach would work better. We are often asked to look into slipped or missing slates on a high roof and storm damage on steep or tall roofs, across large and complex roofs, fragile roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.

In a village or hamlet like Burdrop, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Weather and airspace are checked before the visit. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

We write the report in plain English, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Photographs show what each point refers to.

How we price drone roof surveys

Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before booking. These are the things that affect it:

  • The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
  • Whether it is a home or a commercial building

There are three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.

Booking your survey

A few details help us point you to the right survey and price. When you get in touch, it helps to mention:

  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block
  • Where water is showing inside, if it is
  • What’s prompted the survey
  • Anything about access we should know

Not sure which survey you need? It is easiest to ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and describe the roof and why you want it surveyed. We’ll explain the options and the price.

What we do, step by step

Photographs are taken throughout the visit, so you can see in the report what we found and where. We take close-ups from wherever is safe, including by drone where it’s applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes an hour or two for a house; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. In a small place like Burdrop, access is normally the main thing to plan. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
  4. The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
  • Check pets are kept safely away
  • Check the loft hatch can be reached

Advice

For landlords and managing agents

Any of our surveys can be booked by landlords, agents and building managers in Burdrop. To discuss a property or a block, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work.

Burdrop questions

Is my home in Burdrop listed or in a conservation area?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Is Burdrop within the area you cover?

Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

What happens after the survey?

You receive the written report by email, with photographs and recommendations. You can use it to talk to a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent, whichever applies.

How fast do I get the report?

Report times are set by the package. Basic: within 48 hours. Standard: 24 to 48 hours. Premium: the same day. If you have a deadline, such as an exchange date, let us know as you book.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Only when it’s safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where applicable, a drone, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.

How much is a survey?

Prices start from £400, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package, confirmed before anything is booked.

How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Burdrop?

It’s easiest to phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. Give us the address and a few details about the roof. We survey on weekdays and at weekends.

Honest limits

Our survey is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:

  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will suggest the right survey before you book. The full list of what we check.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Burdrop

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Sibford Gower Endowed Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. The streets around a church such as Church of Holy Trinity are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. With Broughton Castle about 3.8 miles east, the area around Burdrop has a long history. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings.
