Drone roof survey in Mindenhurst: what you get

Drone roof surveys are available in Mindenhurst and throughout London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photos and recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form. If you’re worried about chimney tops in poor condition and flat roofs on upper floors that hold water, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on chimney stacks, tall and steep roofs and fragile roofs alike.

In a village or hamlet like Mindenhurst, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Weather and airspace are checked before the visit, and the journey is planned ahead of time. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Letting agents can arrange access with tenants. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, which can make access easier.

Different roofs, different checks

Valleys and parapet gutters

A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. It’s almost impossible to see from the ground, but a drone shows it clearly.

Steep slate and tile slopes

Walking on fragile coverings can break them. The drone sees them without touching them, so the survey doesn’t add damage.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

A lot can be seen from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.

Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground.

Airspace, weather and Mindenhurst roofs

What can be done to an older roof may depend on listing or a conservation area. The council is the place to check, along with Historic England’s list. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.

In and around Mindenhurst, as anywhere, a roof is easiest to deal with when its problems are found early. Anyone responsible for a site like Sandringham Infant & Nursery School will know that big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:

  • A structural engineer’s report
  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly

If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.

What we look at

  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Fragile roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

What happens on the day

We work from the outside in: outside views come first, then the loft space if there is safe access. In total, it takes between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Older roofs in small places like Mindenhurst can have low, tight loft spaces, so tell us about the loft hatch and any ladder. We only go where it’s safe.

  1. First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. Where there’s safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand

Advice

Why get it checked now?

Photographing a roof from the air doesn’t touch it. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so the survey does not create new problems. In a place like Mindenhurst, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. It’s worth including them in a survey before a winter does the damage.

Prices start from £400, including VAT. The final price depends on how big and how high the roof is, access and which survey you book.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Mindenhurst

Is Mindenhurst within the area you cover?

Yes, Mindenhurst is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

Is my home in Mindenhurst listed or in a conservation area?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

What if my home is near an airport?

Near airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, London City and Stansted, flight restriction zones apply. We check your address and ask for permission where it’s required. If it is not given, we inspect by other means.

Do I need to be at home?

Not necessarily. An outside-only look can be arranged beforehand, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.

Are you insured?

We’re covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.

What’s the best way to book?

Just phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. We’ll ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date.

Will you walk on the roof?

Only when it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed.
