Drone roof surveys near Netley

Leave it or get it looked at?

Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Finding them now means less to put right. Homes in smaller places like Netley can face more weather, so a loose ridge or verge soon lets rain in. Each storm lifts it a little further.

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where it applies, which starts from £400, with VAT included. We will tell you which package suits the questions you have.

Why us?

  • Plain-English reports with photos
  • Professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • An independent look at the roof
  • Customer satisfaction of 98%

About our drone roof survey in Netley

Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs can’t always be inspected up close. A drone takes close-up photographs of those roofs from the air. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly. Everything we find goes into a written report with photographs. It also suits roofs that would be damaged by someone walking on them. If we cannot fly, we tell you why. We survey fragile roofs, tall and steep roofs and flat roofs on upper floors, and the problems we are asked to look at most are vegetation in valleys and gutters and slates or tiles shifted by high winds.

In smaller places like Netley, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from the ground. The parts you cannot see, such as rear slopes, valleys and chimney tops, are where a drone or thermal camera adds detail. The forecast decides the day. Close-up images frequently show wear on ridges, verges and flashings that can’t be judged properly from ground level.

How fast the report arrives depends on the package: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Checking the roof from ground level

Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when booking.

What you cannot do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey.

How it works

Every visit follows the same pattern: we listen to what’s been worrying you, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, photograph what we find and make notes for the report. It normally takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. With a bit of garden around a house, as there often is around Netley, the roof can be viewed from several angles. Let us know if any side is fenced off or hard to reach. Inside, the loft is looked at where it can be reached safely.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Keep pets in another room
  • If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street

Drone roof surveys around Netley

Netley is within about 1 mile of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.

Historic houses such as Medieval Merchant's House, about 3 miles north-west, show how far back building around Netley goes. A drone or thermal survey does not involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near Westquay, big, flat commercial roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images help most. If you live in an older home near Church of St Edward the Confessor, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Netley is about 3 miles north-east of Hythe, in Hampshire. Houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings in Netley can all book drone roof surveys. We cover towns and villages across Hampshire, from the larger towns to small villages.

Before and after the survey

Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:

  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Let us know what you want to see
  • Shut pets inside while we fly
  • Move stored items away from the hatch

The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. The photos show the location and extent of every problem, so their quotes cover the same ground.

Do not block the vents at the eaves. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.

Common questions in Netley

Do you cover smaller places like Netley?

We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.

Is drone flying allowed in Netley?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.

How long will you be at the property?

Time on site depends on the roof, but most surveys take an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. The report is sent afterwards by email.

Will I get photos?

Yes. Photographs are part of every report, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.

Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?

Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Let us know which days suit you as you book.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. We don’t carry out asbestos surveys or testing. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them, and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.

How much is a survey?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Our three packages are Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included.

How the survey changes by roof type

Valleys and parapet gutters

Blocked outlets in hidden gutters cause many leaks. Outlets and any debris around them are photographed.

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Flat roofs on tall buildings are often seen by nobody. A drone shows ponding, splits, blisters and worn upstands.

To price your survey, we check:

  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • The size of the roof
