Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in North Hayling
Drone roof surveys are available in North Hayling and throughout London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form. We survey large and complex roofs, tall and steep roofs and chimney stacks, and common reasons people get in touch are ridge pieces that have lifted and eroded pointing on a chimney stack.
In a village or hamlet like North Hayling, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Weather and airspace are checked ahead of the visit. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
You can share the report with anyone who needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent, whichever applies.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in North Hayling
The top of a stack is the most exposed part of many roofs. From ground level, you rarely see cracked flaunching or loose pots. A drone gets close enough to see them in detail.
Typical things we are asked to look at include:
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
If you look after a building such as The Hayling College, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
Questions to ask before booking
- Will the report include photos?
- Is there a chance to talk the report through?
- Their track record with similar roofs
- Whether the loft space is looked at, where there is one
Practical tips
A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
With the Premium Survey, the report arrives the same day. It includes the drone photos where a flight was possible.
Look at the roof from ground level after strong winds. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone can show exactly what has moved.
Drone roof surveys in North Hayling: local notes
North Hayling lies within about 1 mile of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.
Historic houses such as Warblington Castle, about 1.5 miles north, show how far back building around North Hayling goes. For older roofs nearby, a look from above or with a thermal imager is a hands-off way to check condition. For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Peter, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.
North Hayling is about 3 miles south of Havant, in Hampshire. We visit North Hayling as part of our work across Hampshire, for houses, flats and commercial buildings. Our area takes in places right across Hampshire.

Why act early in North Hayling
Photos from a drone survey show how the roof looks today. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It is useful for planning maintenance over the years. Older cottages and farmhouses around North Hayling can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it is left.
A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in North Hayling
Are there drone restrictions around North Hayling?
Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
How do I find out if my home in North Hayling is listed?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.
Will I get photos?
Yes, plenty. Pictures sit next to the findings they show, so you can see what we mean.
Does someone need to be in?
It depends on what we need to see. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in, while outside access can be discussed as you book.
Are you structural engineers?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and visible signs like sagging are noted, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. The report will say if you need an engineer.
What if it rains on the day?
A survey can typically go ahead in light rain. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so we’ll agree a new date if the weather is not suitable.
How long will you be at the property?
It normally takes between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. The written report follows by email.
What a survey costs
What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. The main factors are:
- Which survey package you book
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
- Commercial roofs and larger buildings
The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where it applies, which starts from £400, including VAT. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.
Helping us price your survey
Before you get in touch, it helps to have:
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
- Your timetable, such as an exchange date
You can call us seven days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. For a price or to book, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Checking the roof from ground level
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.
You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.

What happens on the day
When we arrive, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that’s worrying you. We then inspect everything that can be seen safely, from ground level, from windows, in the loft space and by drone where applicable. Most surveys take an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Cottages and farmhouses around North Hayling often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely, and anything we can’t see is noted.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
- Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
