About our drone roof survey in Perrywood
We fly a sub-250g drone, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. Safety comes first on every visit. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, fragile roofs and large and complex roofs, and people most often book us about moss and weeds taking hold up top and slates or tiles shifted by high winds.
Villages like Perrywood frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
Most points in the report come with a picture, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

What happens if roof problems are left?
With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. You can show exactly where the problem is, which helps when you ask for quotes. Older cottages and farmhouses around Perrywood can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it is left.
Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Common questions in Perrywood
Are there drone restrictions around Perrywood?
Usually it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.
Is Perrywood within the area you cover?
Yes. Perrywood is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can you survey in bad weather?
Light rain does not usually stop a survey, and it can even help show where water is getting in. Strong wind or heavy rain can stop drone flights and make roof access unsafe, so if conditions aren’t right we will arrange another day with you.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
What’s in the survey report?
It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, and ends with what we recommend. The most urgent items are made clear.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it when you book and we’ll plan the survey around it.
Do you need to get into the loft?
Where it is relevant to the survey and there’s safe access, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch, and if the loft cannot be reached safely, the report says so.
What you can safely check yourself
You can learn a lot from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please do not climb up for a closer look.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That is where a survey comes in.
Drone roof surveys around Perrywood
Many older homes in Kent have handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles held by pegs through two holes, and tile-hanging on their upper walls. Kent’s older buildings take in oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses as well. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that is where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.
If you look after a building such as Selling Church of England Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. Belmont House and Gardens, about 3.4 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Perrywood. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from above or with a thermal imager does not touch the roof itself. The streets around a church like Church of St Mary are often among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

What else we do in Perrywood
What we do, step by step
Every visit follows the same pattern: we hear what you’ve seen, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, photograph what we find and record our findings for the written report. Most visits take roughly 1–2 hours for most houses, and more on a big or complicated roof. In a hamlet or village like Perrywood, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
- Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
- The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
How to book
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. For any other survey, just phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email when you are ready.

Prices for drone roof surveys in Perrywood
We confirm the price for your roof before booking. This is what makes a difference:
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
- Roof area
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before you book.
What to let us know when you contact us
To price your survey accurately, we’ll ask about:
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
- The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
- Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
Photos help, if you have them. Take them safely from ground level or a window. To get started, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
