Drone roof survey in Pitsea
A drone shows the outside of a roof very well, but it can’t see under the coverings or into the loft. Where there is safe access, we look in the loft space too, since that is where leaks and condensation often show first. Inside and out together tell you far more. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. Where the loft can’t be reached safely, we note it. If you’ve noticed moss building up on slopes and in gutters and flat roofs on upper floors that hold water, a survey will tell you what’s going on.
For a town like Pitsea, every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map, including zones around airports and prisons. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). We take care over neighbours’ privacy. Flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight, as the open category requires.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Roof by roof
Ridges and hips
Some ridges are fixed with mortar, others with dry-fix systems. We record what we see of their condition.
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Outlets, edges and roof plant are common problem areas. We photograph them closely, as far as the flight allows.
Common questions in Pitsea
Do you carry out roof surveys in Pitsea?
Yes. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and Pitsea is part of that. Just ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and let us know about the property.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Pitsea?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.
Do drone rules differ in central London?
Some areas need permission from NATS before any flight. Where we can’t fly, we use other safe vantage points.
How fast do I get the report?
That depends on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. Reports are sent by email.
What does the report include?
Written findings with photos, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies and structural analysis.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only when it is safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where applicable, a drone, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we are allowed to reach, and the report makes that clear.
What we do, step by step
The aim of the visit is simple: to see as much of the roof as can be seen safely and record it clearly. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. The visit normally takes an hour or two for most houses, or half a day or so for a commercial building. Semi-detached and terraced homes in a town like Pitsea often share a roof line with the neighbours, so we look at what can be seen of the shared parts from your side. It is useful to know about previous repairs, leaks or recent work, so time on site goes where it is needed.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
How to prepare
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- Find any records of previous roof work

Leave it or get it looked at?
A drone record gives you a baseline. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It helps when you plan ahead. Blocked gutters and downpipes on homes in Pitsea overflow onto walls. At roof level, a loose tile or tired flashing does the same. Left alone, both only get worse.
For a price for your roof in Pitsea, phone 07833 053749 or email us with the address and a few details. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Drones, thermal imaging and Pitsea roofs
Pitsea lies within about 4 miles of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain. Basildon, which Pitsea is part of, is one of England’s post-war new towns. Many homes in the new towns date from the post-war decades, with concrete interlocking tiles, low-pitched roofs and flat-roofed garages and porches. Low-pitched roofs can be hard to see from the street, which is where a drone or thermal camera helps.
If you live in an older home near Saint Gabriel's Church, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. If you look after a building such as The Basildon Upper Academy, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.
Pitsea is about 2 miles east of Basildon, in Essex. We carry out drone roof surveys in Pitsea for houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings, with a written report and photographs every time. We cover towns and villages across Essex, from the larger towns to small villages. Chelmsford is in our area too.
Postcode districts we cover here for drone roof surveys: SS13, SS14 and SS16. We cover properties on High Road, Kirby Road and Beech Road. Pitsea is on the A13 and A132, so it’s easy for us to get to. If you are just outside Pitsea, we cover Bowers Gifford (1 mile east), North Benfleet (1 mile east), Nevendon (2 miles north-east), Tarpots (2 miles east) and South Benfleet (3 miles east). We also work in nearby towns such as Chelmsford (12 miles north), Brentwood (9 miles north-west), Maldon (13 miles north-east), Canvey Island (5 miles south-east), Billericay (5 miles north-west) and Rayleigh (5 miles east).
What’s near Pitsea
Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to Vange Hill, The Barge pub and Northlands Primary School and Nursery, among other places. The nearest railway station is Pitsea station, roughly 0.6 miles south. Nearby you will also find The Motor Boat Museum (1 mile west) and Rayleigh Castle (4.5 miles east). The countryside around Pitsea includes Vange Marsh RSPB nature reserve.
Do you need a drone roof survey in Pitsea?
Height and steep pitches make close inspection risky. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. We fly from the ground and bring the camera close to the roof.
Common reasons to book include:
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
Shop and office owners around Eastgate Shopping Centre may find that large commercial roofs are frequently easiest to see from the air or with a thermal camera.

Checking the roof from the ground
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.
What this survey cannot tell you
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
- A structural engineer’s report
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll point you to the right survey. What a survey covers and doesn’t.
