Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Pixham
A drone shows the outside of a roof very well, but it can’t see under the coverings or into the loft. Where there’s safe access, we look in the loft space too, because the underside tells its own story. Inside and out together tell you far more. Your report shows the drone photos alongside what we saw in the loft. Where the loft cannot be reached safely, we note it. If you’ve noticed chimney tops in poor condition and ridge and hip pieces working loose, we can find out what’s behind it.
In a village or hamlet like Pixham, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Weather and airspace are checked before the visit, and the journey is planned ahead of time. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
The written findings come by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

What happens if roof problems are left?
Photographing a roof from the air does not touch it. Nothing is cracked or dislodged by footsteps, so you see the roof exactly as it is. Outbuildings and barns around Pixham are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. It is worth including them in a survey before a winter does the damage.
To find out what your survey will cost, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and tell us about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.

When to book a survey in Pixham
Steep and tall roofs are hard to inspect safely. Three-storey houses, blocks of flats and tall commercial buildings are common examples. We fly from ground level and bring the camera close to the roof.
Typical things we’re asked to look at include:
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
Historic houses like Polesden Lacey, about 2.6 miles north-west, show how far back building around Pixham goes. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- How long the report takes to arrive
- Whether VAT is in the quoted price
- Whether you get a written report with photos
What affects the price in Pixham
All our prices include VAT. What changes the price is:
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- Height and safe access
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
Getting in touch
Before you get in touch, it helps to have:
- Dates you are working to, such as exchange
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- The property’s address and postcode
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. For any other survey, just call 07833 053749 or drop us an email when you are ready.
Roof by roof
Flat roofs on tall buildings
The flat roof on top of a block is rarely looked at. From above, standing water, splits and tired upstands are clear.
Chimney stacks
The top of a stack is normally out of view. Close-up photos show the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings, so cracks and gaps are clear.
Checking the roof from the ground
A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That is where a survey comes in.
Pixham questions
Is drone flying allowed in Pixham?
Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Will you come out to Pixham?
Yes, we do. Our area covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.
How do I book a survey in Pixham?
To arrange a survey, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and tell us the address and what you’d like to know. We will confirm the price and find a day that suits.
What if it rains on the day?
Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drone flights need calm, dry weather, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. We will rearrange with you if the weather isn’t right.
How many surveys have you done?
Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys, across London and South East England.
What do I do with the report?
You will get the report by email. With Standard there is a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation.
Will you walk on the roof?
Not always. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where applicable let us see the rest, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.
The survey, step by step
Every roof is different; as a rough guide, the survey takes between one and two hours on an ordinary house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. You’re welcome to ask questions while we are there. For a village or hamlet like Pixham, the journey is planned ahead of time: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. On the day, we inspect whatever is safely visible, inside and out.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- We email a written report with the photographs and our recommendations.
How to prepare
- If you’re buying, let the agent know when we are coming
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at

Drones, thermal imaging and Pixham roofs
Many older homes in Surrey have handmade clay tiles and tile-hung upper walls. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old buildings in Surrey. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up aerial photos and thermal images help. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons.
A roof leak in a hotel or guest house around Pixham means lost rooms as well as repairs, so it is worth knowing the roof’s condition. The streets around a church such as Pixham Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.
