Independent drone roof surveys in Poundsbridge

What this survey can’t tell you

In fairness, a roof survey has limits:

  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
  • A flight where airspace permission is refused

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

What this survey covers

  • Fragile roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Large and complex roofs

About our drone roof survey in Poundsbridge

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. It stays within sight for the whole flight, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Before every flight, we check the airspace and the weather. Safety comes first on every visit. We survey large and complex roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and chimney stacks, and people most frequently book us about flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and eroded pointing on a chimney stack.

Older buildings in small places like Poundsbridge may be listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof, so it’s a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.

We keep jargon out of it: where something needs attention, it says so plainly.

Why get it checked now?

Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By then, timbers, ceilings and insulation may be wet. Looking from above picks up the early signs. For an older or listed building in a place like Poundsbridge, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.

Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, from £400 including VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you need to know.

Why us?

  • Thermal imaging and drone inspection where they help
  • CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID)
  • An independent view of the roof
  • 5,000+ roofs surveyed

Take a look at what a roof survey costs or what we found on two real jobs.

Before and after the survey

Here are a few things we’d tell any owner, before and after a survey:

  • Let us know what you want to see
  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit

If you need work done, roofers can work from the photos. They’ll see exactly where each defect is.

After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone can show exactly what has moved.

Flying and imaging in Poundsbridge

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.

For businesses in and around places such as Royal Victoria Place, big, flat commercial roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help most. If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near All Souls Chapel, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. With Penshurst Place about 1.6 miles north-west, the area around Poundsbridge has a long history. For older roofs nearby, a look from above or with a thermal imager is a hands-off way to check condition.

Poundsbridge is about 3 miles north-west of Royal Tunbridge Wells, in Kent. Wherever you are in Poundsbridge, we can carry out drone roof surveys at your property. We cover towns and villages across Kent, from the larger towns to small villages. You can also see our page for Maidstone.

We survey roofs across the TN11 postcode area for drone roof surveys. You will find streets such as Penshurst Road and Poundsbridge Hill, and we cover them all. Larger places within reach include Sevenoaks (9 miles north), Royal Tunbridge Wells (3 miles south-east), Tonbridge (5 miles north-east), Kings Hill (12 miles north-east), Paddock Wood (8 miles east) and Edenbridge (7 miles north-west).

Poundsbridge: your questions answered

Are there drone restrictions around Poundsbridge?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.

Is Poundsbridge within the area you cover?

We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.

What happens after the survey?

The report arrives by email, with photos and clear recommendations. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.

Will I get photos?

Yes. The report includes photos of what we found.

Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?

No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.

What will the report tell me?

It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, with photographs throughout. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.

Will you walk on the roof?

Only when it is safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where it applies, a drone, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

Not every roof costs the same to survey, for these reasons:

  • Building height and the viewpoints available
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
  • Roof area
  • Which survey package you book

A Basic Survey starts from £150, inc. VAT. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400. You’ll know the price for your survey before booking.

Getting in touch

To price your survey accurately, we will ask about:

  • Your timetable, like an exchange date
  • The property’s address and postcode
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
  • Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work

Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. Otherwise, simply ring 07833 053749 or email us whenever suits you.

The survey, step by step

There is not much for you to do on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we will get on with the inspection. The survey itself takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Older rural homes like those around Poundsbridge can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
  • Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Let us know about parking near the property

Getting a price

Our price is from £400, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, so ring 07833 053749 or email us with the details.

Advice

What you can safely check yourself

You can learn a lot from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.

Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when you book, as it helps us focus the survey.
