About our drone roof survey in Sandon

Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. If a drone will not help on your roof, we will say so. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey large and complex roofs, chimney stacks and valleys and parapet gutters, and the problems we are asked to look at most are vegetation in valleys and gutters and slates or tiles shifted by high winds.

Villages like Sandon often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Tips from our surveys

A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Tips:

  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Check the loft can be reached
  • Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off

File the report and photos with your home documents. They’re a useful baseline for future surveys.

Do not block the vents at the eaves. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation, and it’s something only an inside check will show. Check insulation does not block the airflow.

What happens on the day

The aim of the visit is simple: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photographs go into the written report. It usually takes between one and two hours at a typical home, and more on a big or complicated roof. Somewhere as small as Sandon, access is frequently the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. We arrange any permission that is needed before we fly.
  3. We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
  • Let us know about parking before the day
  • If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building

Advice

What this survey can’t tell you

A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it cannot do everything. Its limits include:

  • A structural engineer’s report
  • What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
  • Flights in a restricted zone without permission

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will suggest the right survey. The full list of what we check.

What this survey covers

  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Fragile roofs

Drone roof surveys around Sandon

In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile, and flat-roofed additions turn up almost everywhere. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up photos from the air and thermal images help. Older buildings may be listed or sit in a conservation area. To find out, check Historic England’s list and ask the council about conservation areas. Re-roofing in different materials may need permission there.

The streets around a church such as Church of All Saints are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

FAQs for Sandon

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Sandon?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Is my home in Sandon listed or in a conservation area?

You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Do I have to be there for the survey?

That depends on the survey. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access, while outside access can be discussed as you book.

How much is a survey?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. We confirm the exact price before booking, and it depends on the roof’s size, access and the package you choose. To get a price, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Do you test for asbestos?

No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it.

What insurance do you have?

We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.

What happens next?

We email you the written report with photographs and recommendations. It’s yours to share with a seller, insurer, roofer or managing agent, whichever applies.

Surveys for landlords and agents in Sandon

With a portfolio of properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To discuss a number of properties, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the addresses.

If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in. We survey on any day of the week, which can make access easier.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Sandon?

Walking on some roofs does more harm than good. Older slates and tiles break easily, and some sheet roofs are fragile. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.

Common reasons to book include:

  • Lead work pulling away at abutments
  • Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
  • Vegetation in valleys and gutters
  • Cracked mortar along the ridge

If you look after a building such as Sandon Junior Mixed and Infant School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • How they plan to inspect the roof safely
  • If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
  • Whether you can ask questions once you have the report
  • What the survey won’t cover

What to expect from a roof survey

Why act early in Sandon

Photographing a roof from the air does not touch it. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so you see the roof exactly as it is. Older and listed buildings around Sandon may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.

Prices start from £400, including VAT. Packages run from Basic at £150 through Standard at £250 to Premium at £400, inc. VAT, and we can help you choose.
