Drone Roof Survey in Shipley Bridge
Not sure what state the roof is in? You can book a drone roof survey in Shipley Bridge and across Surrey, with plain-English findings.
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Ridge pieces that have lifted
Practical tips
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:
- Make sure the loft can be reached
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
- Expect a little longer if permission is needed
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
File the report and photos with your home documents. They give you something to compare against later.
Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Photograph anything new.
Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Shipley Bridge
Every flight starts with an airspace check. Near protected airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If we cannot fly, we use other safe vantage points instead and tell you. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. If you’ve noticed blistered or cracked flat roof coverings and wind damage high on the roof, we can find out what’s behind it, on flat roofs on upper floors, large and complex roofs and fragile roofs alike.
In a village or hamlet like Shipley Bridge, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from ground level. Weather and airspace are checked before the visit. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent, whichever applies.

When to book a survey in Shipley Bridge
Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Leaves, silt and plant growth build up unseen, until it causes a leak inside. From above, they’re easy to see.
Look out for signs like these:
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
- Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
- Ridge pieces that have lifted
If you run a hotel or guest house in or near Shipley Bridge, a roof problem can mean rooms out of use, so it pays to find faults before guests do.
Questions to ask before booking
- Their insurance cover
- What experience they bring
- Whether VAT is added on top
- Will the report include photos?
Shipley Bridge questions
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Shipley Bridge?
We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Is drone flying allowed in Shipley Bridge?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Shipley Bridge is inside, or right on the edge of, the flight restriction zone around Gatwick Airport. We ask the airport for permission before flying there, and only fly if it’s given. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.
How long will you be at the property?
That depends on the size and shape of the roof; most visits take roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. The report is sent afterwards by email.
How much is a survey?
Our price is from £400, including VAT. Our three packages are Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, including VAT.
What’s the best way to book?
To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and tell us the address and what you’d like to know. We’ll confirm the price and find a day that suits.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day. Just say which days work for you.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. We look at the roof, not the whole building, and it isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.
Different roofs, different checks
Chimney stacks
The drone shows the outside of the stack, and it isn’t a flue or gas safety check. If the flue needs a specialist, we will tell you.
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Flat roofs on tall buildings are frequently seen by nobody. A drone shows ponding, splits, blisters and worn upstands.
Flying and imaging in Shipley Bridge
The flight restriction zone around Gatwick Airport covers Shipley Bridge, or comes right up to its edge. We ask the airport for permission before flying there, and only fly if it’s given. There are several hotels within about a mile and a half of Shipley Bridge. For hotels and other commercial buildings, large roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.
Take a building like Forge Wood Primary School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for example near County Mall, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it.

What a drone roof survey does not cover
Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, so a survey has limits:
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
- A structural engineer’s report
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll suggest the right survey. What our survey covers.

More services for Shipley Bridge
The survey, step by step
Before we start, tell us why you’ve booked: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. That way we can focus on what matters to you. Most visits take an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Rural addresses near Shipley Bridge can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- We also look inside the roof space where it is safe.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- If you are buying, check with the agent that we can get in
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
We confirm the price for your roof before you book. This is what makes a difference:
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- Which survey package you book
- The size of the roof
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.
Booking your survey
Here’s what helps us most when you contact us:
- Access details, like a loft hatch or a shared roof
- The address and postcode of the property
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
Once you know what you need, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form. From there it’s a case of choosing a package, agreeing the price and fixing a day.
