Stoke Charity Drone Roof Survey
Need a drone roof survey in Stoke Charity? We can help, with findings in writing and pictures to back them up. Weekday and weekend visits available.
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
Why it is worth a survey now in Stoke Charity
It is hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. You get photographs of every part we can see. You can tackle the urgent items first. Outbuildings and barns around Stoke Charity are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. A quick look before winter can save a lot.
A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package you pick makes a difference too. The price is always agreed first.
Why us?

Drone roof survey in Stoke Charity
The weather decides whether a drone can fly. We don’t fly in high wind or heavy rain, because the drone has to stay safely under control. If the weather turns, we’ll agree another day. The forecast is checked ahead of the visit and again on the day. Light wind and dry weather give the clearest close-up photos. Waiting for a better day is better than a rushed flight. We are frequently asked to look into chimney tops in poor condition and plant growth and moss on the roof, across chimney stacks, tall and steep roofs and valleys and parapet gutters.
In a small place like Stoke Charity, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
We keep jargon out of it: if work is needed, the report says so clearly, and where it can wait, that’s said too.

Useful tips for Stoke Charity property owners
Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:
- Make sure there is room outside for the drone to take off
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Let us know what you want to see
- Shut pets inside while we fly
With the Premium Survey, the report arrives the same day. Drone photos are included where we could fly, alongside the other checks in the package.
Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, and early repairs keep water out.
Drones, thermal imaging and Stoke Charity roofs
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Older buildings may be listed or sit in a conservation area. To find out, check Historic England’s list and ask the council about conservation areas. Re-roofing in different materials may need permission there.
If you live in an older home near Church of St Michael, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image. For any home in Stoke Charity, it’s the small, early fault that is cheapest to put right.

DIY checks: what’s safe
You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date.

Common questions in Stoke Charity
Is my home in Stoke Charity listed or in a conservation area?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Will you come out to Stoke Charity?
Yes. Stoke Charity is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We survey roofs across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We’re roof surveyors, not structural engineers, and it does not include calculations. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we will recommend one.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, if the building owner or managing agent agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we’re allowed to reach.
Does your drone take thermal images?
Our drone takes close-up photos of the roof. Thermal imaging is carried out separately, and it’s part of the Premium Survey.
Are you registered with the CAA?
Yes. We hold both a CAA Flyer ID and an Operator ID. The drone we use weighs under 250g, flown within the rules for the open category.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes, plenty. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible, which makes the report easy to follow.
What happens on the day
Before we start, let us know why you’ve booked: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. The visit normally takes between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Older rural homes like those around Stoke Charity can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we cannot see is noted.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- We arrange any permission that is needed before we fly.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Advice
Honest limits
In fairness, there are limits to any roof survey:
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll suggest the right survey. What a survey covers and doesn’t.
