Need a drone roof survey in Sutton-under-Brailes?

Should I look at the roof myself first?

Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us as you book, as it helps us focus the survey.

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey.

Drone roof survey in Sutton-under-Brailes

Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. The camera stays on your roof, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. If you’re worried about moss and weeds taking hold up top and chimney tops in poor condition, we can find out what’s behind it, on tall and steep roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and chimney stacks alike.

In a small place like Sutton-under-Brailes, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

The report works through the roof section by section, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets, each with a short note and a photo. You will see the good as well as the bad.

Why it’s worth a survey now in Sutton-under-Brailes

On a tall building, problems are often found only when water comes in. By then, timbers, ceilings and insulation may be wet. A drone survey finds them sooner. Around Sutton-under-Brailes, older homes often have old roof timbers, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it is left.

There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

Sutton-under-Brailes: your questions answered

Is my home in Sutton-under-Brailes listed or in a conservation area?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Is Sutton-under-Brailes within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

What insurance do you have?

Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. If you need details for a managing agent or a building owner, just ask.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. We don’t sample or test for asbestos. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it.

How soon will I get the report?

It depends on the package: the Basic Survey report arrives within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey the same day. The report is emailed to you.

Will you walk on the roof?

Not unless it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.

How much is a survey?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Our three packages are Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included.

When you need someone else

We only report what can be seen safely on the day, so there are some things a survey can’t cover:

  • What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
  • Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you before booking. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

What we check

  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Fragile roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Tall and steep roofs

How the survey works

The aim of the visit is simple: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. The visit normally takes about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Somewhere as small as Sutton-under-Brailes, access is often the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. We arrange any permission that is needed before we fly.
  3. We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
  4. We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Leave side gates unlocked
  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
  • If you are buying, check with the agent that we can get in

Common roof problems in Sutton-under-Brailes

From the pavement, most of a tall roof is out of sight. Rear slopes, valleys and the tops of chimneys are hidden. Faults there can go unnoticed for years.

Here are some of the things we see often:

  • Outlets choked with leaves and silt
  • Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
  • Cracked mortar along the ridge
  • Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below

A roof leak in a hotel or guest house around Sutton-under-Brailes means lost rooms as well as repairs, so it pays to find faults before guests do.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • What insurance they carry
  • Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
  • What exactly goes into their report
  • Is VAT included in the price?

What a drone roof survey looks like in Sutton-under-Brailes

Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Sutton-under-Brailes has a number of hotels within about a mile and a half. For hotels and other commercial buildings, large roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.

If you live in an older home near St Thomas a Becket Church, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps.
