Drone Roof Survey in Waddon
Find out what’s going on with the roof before you spend money on it. We carry out drone roof surveys in Waddon.
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
How a drone roof survey works in Waddon
Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs can’t always be inspected up close. Our drone roof survey gets a camera close to them without anyone climbing. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail, including slopes that cannot be seen from the street. Everything we find goes into a written report with photographs. It also suits roofs that would be damaged by someone walking on them. If we can’t fly, we tell you why. Typical surveys look at hidden gutters full of leaves and blistered or cracked flat roof coverings, on flat roofs on upper floors, fragile roofs and chimney stacks.
Flying in London takes more checking than most places: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Before a drone goes up in Waddon, the address is checked against all of them, and permission is never taken for granted.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
In fairness, a roof survey has limits:
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses
Landlords, agents and building managers in Waddon and across Greater London can book any of our surveys. For a price for a let property or a block, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too. Bigger roofs take more time, so they’re priced to suit.
Tips from our surveys
A little preparation and a few simple habits help, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Our tips:
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
- Make sure there is room outside for the drone to take off
- Move stored items away from the hatch
The Premium Survey report comes the same day. Drone photographs are included where we could fly.
Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, and early repairs keep water out.
How we price drone roof surveys
A few things affect what a survey costs:
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- The size of the roof
- Whether it is a home or a commercial building
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
We offer three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all including VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.
Booking your survey
If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:
- The property’s address and postcode
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- Your timetable, such as an exchange date
- What’s prompted the survey
Photos help, if you have them. Pictures from the ground or a window are fine, and please don’t climb up for a closer look. To send them or to book, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.
What a drone roof survey looks like in Waddon
Further from the centre, London’s housing takes in interwar semis with hipped roofs in clay or concrete tiles as well as slate-roofed terraces. Bay roofs, hip ridges and dormers from later loft conversions are the details that set these houses apart. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from ground level, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up.
Hotels and guest houses near Waddon cannot easily close rooms for a leak, so it pays to find faults before guests do. Shop and office owners around St George's Walk may find that large commercial roofs are often easiest to see from the air or with a thermal camera. If you live in an older home near Church of St George, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Waddon questions
Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in Waddon?
It depends on the street. If Waddon has controlled parking where you are, a visitor permit is the easiest answer, and a driveway is even better.
Is my home in Waddon listed or in a conservation area?
Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. We do not sample or test for asbestos. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000, with a recommendation to have a specialist asbestos surveyor check before it’s disturbed.
Does your drone take thermal images?
No, the drone survey is photographic. For thermal imaging, look at the Premium Survey or our thermal roof survey.
Does the weather affect a drone survey?
Safety comes first, so the weather decides. We won’t fly in high wind or heavy rain. We will talk through the options if the day turns bad.
Are you registered with the CAA?
Yes, we are. Our Flyer ID and Operator ID come from the CAA, and the drone itself is under 250g, kept within sight on every flight.
What does the report include?
You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos, finishing with recommendations. Points are put in order of urgency where relevant.
What happens on the day
We’ll ask a few questions first, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. The inspection then takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. From the street, a London terrace normally shows only its front slope or parapet, so a visit in Waddon moves between viewpoints: the pavement, upstairs windows, the loft and any safe spot at the back. Shared stairs or a basement flat? Tell us who holds the keys.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- We email a written report with the photographs and our recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Check we can get to the back of the property
- If you’re buying, let the agent know when we are coming

Related advice
Can I check my roof myself?
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry, as it helps us focus the survey.
