Need a drone roof survey in Waterford?

Why act early in Waterford

Photographing a roof from the air does not touch it. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so you see the roof exactly as it is. For an older or listed building in a place like Waterford, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.

A Basic Survey starts from £150, with VAT included. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400. You’ll know the price for your survey before booking.

Why book with us

  • 98% of customers satisfied
  • An independent look at the roof
  • More than 5,000 surveys completed
  • We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID

How a drone roof survey works in Waterford

We carry out drone roof surveys in Waterford and across London and the South East, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, chimney stacks and fragile roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are plant growth and moss on the roof and cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below.

In a village or hamlet like Waterford, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from the ground. Weather and airspace are looked at before the visit, and the journey is planned in advance. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Drones, thermal imaging and Waterford roofs

In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile, with flat-roofed extensions, dormers and garages common everywhere. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. Historic houses such as Digswell House, about 4.7 miles west, show how far back building in the area around Waterford goes. Older homes in the wider area frequently have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years.

The streets around a church like Church of St Michael and All Angels are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

Waterford is about 1 mile north-west of Hertford, in Hertfordshire. We carry out drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Waterford and the surrounding area. We cover towns and villages across Hertfordshire, large and small. London is in our area too.

Questions from Waterford

Do you cover smaller places like Waterford?

Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Waterford?

We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.

How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Waterford?

It is easiest to call 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Tell us the address and a little about the roof. Surveys run seven days a week.

Is your drone operator registered?

We are. Our Flyer ID and Operator ID come from the CAA, and the drone itself is under 250g, kept within sight on every flight.

Will you walk on the roof?

Not always. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where applicable let us see the rest.

Does the weather affect a drone survey?

The conditions on the day decide whether a flight goes ahead. We will not fly in strong wind or heavy rain. We will talk through the options if the day turns bad.

Do I need to be at home?

If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. We’ll talk about access when booking.

Roof by roof

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Flat roof coverings wear out at different rates. Photos show how the covering is wearing.

Ridges and hips

Ridges and hips are the most exposed parts of a pitched roof. A drone shows cracked mortar and loose ridge tiles.

Honest limits

This is not a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:

  • What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
  • A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
  • A flight where airspace permission is refused

If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll recommend the right survey. The full list of what we check.

What this survey covers

  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

Rented homes, blocks and businesses

We survey roofs for letting agents and landlords as well as homeowners. The report gives you a dated record of the roof, with photos, useful for planning maintenance.

For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out with the most urgent first where relevant, which helps with budgets and planning.

What we are asked to look at in Waterford

Not every roof can take a person’s weight. Old slates and clay tiles crack underfoot, and fragile sheet roofs are dangerous to walk on. A drone lets us see them closely without touching them.

A survey can pick up problems such as:

  • Wind damage high on the roof
  • Ridge pieces that have lifted
  • Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
  • Hidden gutters full of leaves

Take a building like Bengeo Primary School: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

What to check before booking

  • Their report turnaround times
  • Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
  • How much experience they have with roofs like yours
  • What the survey will not cover

What to expect from a roof survey

What happens on the day

The visit has one job: to see as much of the roof as can be seen safely and record it clearly. Notes and photographs go into the written report. It usually takes between one and two hours for a house, or half a day or so for a commercial building. In a small place like Waterford, access is usually the main thing to plan. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared
  • Let us know about parking near the property

Arrange a survey

Photos help, if you have them. Pictures from ground level or a window are fine; never climb up to get a better view. To get started, phone 07833 053749 or email us.
