Flat roof survey in Egypt
Flat roofs deal with rain in a very different way from pitched ones. Water lies on the surface for longer, so a small split or a blocked outlet can soon lead to a leak. We check the surface, the falls, the upstands and the edge trims, and we note any sign that the deck below has got wet. That way, defects are found before they reach the room below. If you’ve noticed damaged trims at the roof edge and a sagging deck under the covering, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
Somewhere as small as Egypt, flat roofs tend to be on extensions, garages and converted outbuildings. The checks are the same as anywhere: outlets, upstands, edges and the covering itself. We simply plan the journey and access beforehand. If there are outbuildings or garages with flat roofs, mention them when you book.
The report records the flat roof as we found it on the day. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later, such as when you want to compare after future work.

What this survey can’t tell you
We only report what can safely be seen on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- Structural calculations, which need a structural engineer
- Fragile surfaces, which we do not walk on
- Asbestos testing, which needs a specialist asbestos surveyor
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you before you book. The full list of what we check.

Why act early in Egypt
A small split in a flat roof is typically a modest job when it’s found early. Leave it, and water can get into the insulation and deck, which can turn a patch into a replacement. Surveying it now tells you where you stand. Older and listed buildings around Egypt may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.
Every price we give includes VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Prices start from £150, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.
Why book with us
- Visits on any day of the week
- CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID)
- 5,000+ roofs surveyed
- Independent findings on the roof’s condition
How it works
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, like when any problem began and what work has been done before. The inspection then takes an hour or two for most houses, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. In a hamlet or village like Egypt, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- You send us the address and, for commercial roofs, an idea of the roof’s size.
- Inside, we look for signs of water under the roof where we can reach.
- The roof is inspected from every safe viewpoint, without walking on fragile surfaces.
- Each defect is photographed and its likely cause noted.
- You get a report setting out the condition and our recommendations, in order of urgency.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
- Check pets are kept safely away
- Leave a clear route to the loft

What else we do in Egypt
What you can safely check yourself
You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
What you cannot do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That part is for a survey.
Common questions in Egypt
How do I find out if my home in Egypt is listed?
We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
Do you carry out roof surveys in Egypt?
Yes, Egypt is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos.
How long is the visit?
Time on site depends on the roof; most visits take between one and two hours for an extension, garage or dormer roof, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial flat roof. The written report follows by email.
Do you survey commercial flat roofs?
Yes. We survey flat roofs on offices, shops, industrial units and blocks of flats. We quote bigger roofs on their size and how they’re reached, so please call 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the details.
Do you look in the roof space?
Where it’s relevant to the survey and there is safe access, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch, and if the loft cannot be reached safely, the report says so.
What’s in the report?
You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos, and ends with what we recommend. Points are put by urgency where it matters.
How experienced are you?
Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys.
How we price flat roof surveys
What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. The main factors are:
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- Building height and the viewpoints available
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- How big the roof is
Our price is from £150, including VAT. The final price depends on the size and height of the roof, how it can be seen safely and the package you choose.
Getting in touch
If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:
- The kind of building and roof involved
- Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- Dates you are working to, such as exchange
Booking is simple: just ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form, let us know about the property and we will recommend the right survey. The price is agreed up front.
For landlords and managing agents
Landlords and agents in Egypt book surveys as well as householders. The report gives you a dated record of the flat roof, with photographs.
Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, including offices, shops and units. Larger roofs take longer, and they’re priced for the size.
Flat roofs in Egypt
Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Next to the main roofs there’s normally a flat roof somewhere, whether on an extension, a garage or a commercial unit. With Cliveden about 3 miles west, Egypt sits in an area with a long building history. If you own one of the older houses, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.
The streets around a church such as St John the Evangelist are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, the flat roofs on later extensions tend to wear out long before the main roof. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Farnham Common Infant School, large flat roofs, common on schools and other public buildings, need their outlets, upstands and coverings checked regularly. If you let a flat or house near Burnham station, the flat roof over a let home is worth a look before it becomes a tenant complaint.
