Flat roof survey in Little Somborne: what you get
A flat roof survey looks at the covering, the edges, the outlets and the details where the roof meets walls and rooflights. We cover felt, mastic asphalt, EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass and single-ply roofs. It suits a small roof over an extension or garage as well as a large one over flats, offices or units. You get a written report with photos and our recommendations. Common reasons to book are cracked or split membrane and blisters and bubbles in the covering, on GRP fibreglass, felt flat roofs and single-ply membranes.
Somewhere as small as Little Somborne, flat roofs tend to be on extensions, garages and converted outbuildings. The checks are the same as anywhere: outlets, upstands, edges and the covering itself. The journey and access are planned beforehand. Garages and outbuildings are easy to forget, so mention any you want included as you book.
You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

Local flat roofs in Little Somborne
Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. Older houses in the South East frequently have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Alongside them, flat-roofed extensions, dormers, garages and commercial units are common almost everywhere. Before planning roof work on an older home, find out whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Listed building consent covers changes to a listed building’s special interest, and an Article 4 direction can bring extra controls in a conservation area.
If you live in an older home near All Saints Church, any flat roof added at the back or on a dormer is likely to be far younger, and less durable, than the main roof.

Common roof problems in Little Somborne
A flat roof lies open to sun, rain and frost, and water drains off it slowly. Over the years, coverings harden, crack and start to come away at the edges. People typically call us when a leak appears, before a purchase, or when the roof may be near the end of its life.
People normally book a survey when they’ve noticed one of these:
- Failed upstands where the roof meets a wall
- Outlets that hold water back
- Water getting in at rooflights
- Edge trims that have lifted or split
Whatever the street in Little Somborne, a roof costs least to look after when faults are caught early.
What to check before booking
- Whether the price includes VAT
- Their track record with similar roofs
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
- Whether the loft space is looked at, where there is one
Common questions in Little Somborne
Do you carry out roof surveys in Little Somborne?
Yes. We survey roofs across London and the South East, and Little Somborne is part of that. Just call 07833 053749 or send us an email and let us know about the property, and we’ll talk through which survey suits.
Do you cover smaller places like Little Somborne?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.
Can you survey any kind of flat roof?
We cover the main flat roof coverings: felt, asphalt, EPDM, GRP and single-ply. The report names the covering and explains its condition.
Can you inspect my roof with a drone?
Where it helps and it’s safe, yes. Flights depend on the weather on the day and airspace rules. We are a CAA-registered drone operator.
When does the report arrive?
Report times are set by the package. Basic: within 48 hours. Standard: 24 to 48 hours. Premium: the same day. Mention any deadline as you book.
Does someone need to be in?
Someone needs to let us in if we are looking inside or in the loft. We will talk about access as you book.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with the building owner or managing agent. Mention it when you contact us and we will plan the survey around it.

Why act early in Little Somborne
A leak over an office, shop or unit can affect the people and stock underneath. Surveying the roof in good time means work can be planned and budgeted around the business. Older cottages and farmhouses around Little Somborne can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it is left.

For landlords and managing agents
We survey roofs for landlords and agents as well as householders. The report gives you a dated record of the flat roof, with photographs, useful for planning maintenance.
Managing agents and residents’ management companies use roof surveys to plan maintenance. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait, which helps when budgeting.
When you need someone else
In fairness, a roof survey has limits:
- Testing older roof sheets for asbestos
- An exact number of years the roof has left
- Hidden layers beneath the covering
If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will suggest the right survey. The full list of what we check.
What this survey covers
- Felt flat roofs
- Upstands and outlets
- GRP fibreglass
- Mastic asphalt
- Single-ply membranes
- EPDM rubber
Should I look at the roof myself first?
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are frequently out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
The survey, step by step
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and if part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. The survey normally takes roughly 1–2 hours for a small flat roof at home, and longer for a large commercial one. Rural addresses near Little Somborne can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We start with the details: the address, the roof’s use and any leaks or stains.
- We check the roof from wherever it can be seen safely.
- We check and photograph the covering, the falls, the upstands, the outlets, the trims and any rooflights.
- We check the rooms or spaces under the roof for staining where we can reach them.
- We send a written report with photos, the defects we found and what we recommend.
Before we arrive
- For flats, check roof access has been agreed
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
- Leave side gates unlocked
