Redford Gutter Survey
A survey of gutters, valleys, outlets and downpipes across Redford, using drones and thermal imaging where it applies. Get in touch for a price.
- Leaking or loose downpipes
- Gutters packed with leaves or moss
- Soffits marked by water
The survey, step by step
There is not much for you to do on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we’ll get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes roughly 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, and more on a big or complicated roof. Somewhere as small as Redford, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- We ask about overflows, damp or leaks you’ve noticed.
- We look along the gutters, downpipes and fascias from the ground and from windows.
- We check hidden gutters, like valleys and parapets, where it’s safe to see them.
- We look in the roof space, where there’s safe access, for signs of water getting in.
- You get a written report with photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- Leave a clear route to the loft
- Let us know about parking near the property

Gutter surveys for homes and businesses in Redford
This survey covers rainwater above ground, from the gutters down to where the downpipes meet the ground. It is not a CCTV drain survey, so we cannot see inside underground pipes. Where water seems to be backing up from below ground, we’ll say so in the report, with a suggestion to book a separate drain survey. Anything we find above ground, such as a split hopper or a leaking downpipe, is photographed and recorded. If you are worried about gutters full of debris and silt and joints that drip after rain, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on downpipes, fascias and soffits and eaves gutters alike.
Village roofs often face open fields and take the full force of wind and rain, so ridges, chimney stacks, flashings and gutters work hard. Damp in old walls is slow to dry, so a small leak can do a lot of harm. A roof report shows what needs attention first. Lead flashings and old chimney stacks are often where weather gets in first.
Nothing in the report is left vague: if work is needed, the report says so clearly, along with how urgent it is.

Redford: your questions answered
How do I find out if my home in Redford is listed?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
Do you survey roofs for landlords with property near Liphook station?
Yes, letting agents and landlords book with us as well as owners. Just ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and let us know about the building.
Is there a good time of year to book a gutter survey?
Whenever suits you. If you’ve already seen a gutter overflowing, it’s best not to wait as overflowing water can damage walls.
Will you check if gutters are causing damp inside?
We check whether rainwater from the gutters is reaching the wall, through overflows, drips or damaged downpipes. We can’t see inside walls, so the report covers what can be seen.
Do you check valley and parapet gutters?
Yes. Hidden gutters are a common cause of leaks inside so we pay close attention to them. Parts of them may not be visible, and the report says so.
Do you survey at weekends?
Yes, we carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays as well as weekdays. To book, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Will you check the drains below ground?
No. We check above-ground rainwater only down to where the downpipes reach the ground. If a drain below ground looks like the cause, the report says so.
Signs you need a gutter survey in Redford
Most gutter joints rely on seals or sealant that wear out. Plastic sections expand and contract with the weather, and in time their joints can drip. Cast iron joints can corrode and part once the paint has worn away.
We’re frequently asked to look at:
- Valley or box gutters that overflow inside
- Blocked outlets and hoppers
- Gutters overflowing in heavy rain
- Gutters that have fallen out of line
Take an older house close to Church of St Luke: its roof may have old fixings, lead flashings and chimneys that need a closer look.
Questions to ask before you book
- Their track record with similar roofs
- Which viewpoints they use to see the roof
- Their insurance cover
- Will the report include photos?

Getting in touch
There is no need for technical words. It’s enough to tell us:
- The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage
- Dates you are working to, such as exchange
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
Unsure which package suits your roof? It is easiest to call 07833 053749 or send us an email and describe the roof and why you want it surveyed. We’ll talk you through the options and what they cost.
Practical tips
Most of what helps is simple and safe from ground level. Our suggestions:
- Check downpipe clips are holding
- Get the gutters cleaned out every year
- Have overhanging branches cut back
- Note any damp stains below the gutters
The report comes with photos and recommendations, prioritised by urgency where relevant. You can pass it to whoever you choose to do the work so they can see exactly what’s needed.
Deal with drips, sags and loose downpipes early. Left alone, they normally grow and spilled water harms brickwork and woodwork.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
Gutter surveys around Redford
Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung upper walls are typical of older Sussex houses. A few old Sussex buildings still carry heavy Horsham stone slabs. On roofs like these, good slates or tiles can outlast the nails, battens, lead and mortar around them. About 3.4 miles south-east lies Cowdray House, a reminder of how long the area around Redford has been built on. On older houses around here, roofs frequently carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
For landlords with property near Liphook station, the gap between tenancies is a good time to have the roof looked at.
