- Blockages deep inside downpipes
- Damage hidden inside walls or behind boards
- Confirming asbestos in older rainwater goods

Gutter survey in Rush Green
We look at the rainwater system above ground level: gutters, outlets, hoppers, downpipes and overflows. It is not a CCTV drain survey, so we cannot see inside underground pipes. Where water seems to be backing up from below ground, the report will say so, so you can get the drains checked separately. Problems above ground, from split hoppers to leaking downpipes, are photographed and noted. We survey outlets and hoppers, eaves gutters and fascias and soffits, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are overflowing eaves gutters and blocked outlets and hoppers.
Some older homes in villages like Rush Green are listed or in a conservation area. That can affect what materials can be used when work is done, so check with the council before planning anything. Knowing the roof’s condition helps you plan ahead with that in mind. Where a building is listed, matching the existing roof materials is frequently expected.
Every survey ends with a written report, with photographs, emailed to you. It sets out the condition of the gutter, any defects and our written recommendations.

How we price gutter surveys
Our packages start from £150, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on:
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
- Roof area
To find out what your survey will cost, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and tell us about the roof. We’ll confirm the figure before booking.
What to tell us when you get in touch
A few details help us suggest the right survey and price. When you contact us, let us know:
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Dates you are working to, like exchange
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
Photos help, if you have them. Pictures from ground level or a window are fine; never climb up to get a better view. To get started, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Rush Green questions
I let a flat near Denham Golf Club station. Can you check the roof?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the details.
Will you come out to Rush Green?
We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
How experienced are you?
More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years.
How long will you be on site?
It normally takes about one to two hours at a typical home, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. We will give you an idea when booking.
Is a CCTV drain survey included?
No, we do not carry out CCTV drain surveys. The survey covers gutters, outlets, hoppers, downpipes and overflows and note any sign that the drains need checking.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. We are experienced roof surveyors, and visible signs like sagging are noted, but we don’t provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. If one is needed, the report says so.
Does the report include photos?
Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.
The survey, step by step
When we arrive, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you’d like to know. We then inspect everything that can be seen safely, using the ground, windows, the loft and a drone where applicable. The survey usually takes an hour or two for a house, and more on a big or complicated roof. For a village or hamlet like Rush Green, the journey is planned beforehand: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from the loft where there is safe access and from the roof where it is safe.
- We ask about overflows, damp or leaks you’ve noticed.
- The eaves gutters, downpipes and fascias are looked at from ground level and vantage points.
- Valley, parapet and box gutters are inspected as far as they can be seen safely.
- We look in the loft space, where there’s safe access, for signs of water getting in.
- The findings are written up with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at

Checking the roof from ground level
A lot can be seen from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please do not climb up for a closer look.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
Any of our surveys can be booked by landlords, agents and building managers in Rush Green. To discuss a property or a block, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf, and the report can go to both. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

Cast iron gutters
Cast iron gutters and downpipes are found on many older buildings. They last well when painted, but rust where the paint fails.
Fascias and soffits
On buildings from before 2000, soffits may be asbestos cement. Any we think could be are flagged so a specialist asbestos surveyor can check them before they’re disturbed.
What a gutter survey looks like in Rush Green
Some villages in Buckinghamshire still have thatched roofs. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Whatever the covering, it is often the fixings, flashings, valleys and gutters that give out first. The wider area around Rush Green has a long history of building, with Ickenham Hall about 3.2 miles east. If your home is one of the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
Shop and office owners around The Pavilions may find that a roof report helps plan work around trading rather than after a leak. For an older house near a landmark like St Francis, its roof may have old fixings, lead flashings and chimneys that need a closer look. Landlords with a home close to Denham Golf Club station may find that the gap between tenancies is a good time to have the roof looked at.
