Shreding Green Gutter Survey

- Downpipes that are split or coming away
- Soffits marked by water
Do you need a gutter survey in Shreding Green?
Overflowing gutters in a downpour are a common reason to book. Others notice a damp wall, a stained ceiling or a green streak down the brickwork. A survey helps show where the water is coming from before it causes more harm.
People usually book a survey after spotting something like this:
- Sagging gutters and loose brackets
- Cracked or loose downpipes
- Gutters overflowing in heavy rain
- Dripping or leaking gutter joints
If you look after a building like The Iver Village Junior School, large buildings have long gutter runs and big roofs that need checking like any other.
Choosing a roof surveyor

- Whether the loft is part of the inspection
- How they plan to inspect the roof safely

How a gutter survey works in Shreding Green
Your gutters take the rain from the roof and lead it away from the walls. If they clog, drip or sag, the water ends up somewhere it shouldn’t and that normally means the walls or the inside of the building. Our survey looks at the whole rainwater system above ground, from eaves gutters and valleys to outlets, hoppers and downpipes. You get a written report with photos. We survey outlets and hoppers, fascias and soffits and eaves gutters, and people most frequently book us about dripping or leaking gutter joints and downpipes that are split or coming away.
Village roofs frequently face open fields and take the full force of wind and rain, so ridges, chimney stacks, flashings and gutters work hard. Damp in old walls is slow to dry, so a small leak can do a lot of harm. A written report sets out what to deal with and in what order. Lead flashings and old chimney stacks are often where weather gets in first.
Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly.

Common questions in Shreding Green
Is my home in Shreding Green listed or in a conservation area?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Can a landlord with a rental near Langley station book a roof survey?
Yes. We survey roofs for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as owners. Just call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the details, and we will talk through which survey suits.
What happens next?
You will get the report by email, with photos and clear recommendations. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.
How long will you be on site?
Most visits to a house take about 1–2 hours, with commercial buildings nearer 3–4 hours.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and they go into the written report.
Could my damp wall be caused by the gutters?
Leaking gutters and downpipes are a common cause of damp walls, and the survey looks for that. If the cause looks like something else, the report says so, based on what we can see.
How soon will I get the report?
Each package has its own report time. Basic: within 48 hours. Standard: 24 to 48 hours. Premium: the same day. If you have a deadline, such as an exchange date, let us know when booking.
Local roofs in Shreding Green
Windsor Castle, about 4 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Shreding Green. On older houses around here, roofs frequently carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Buckinghamshire’s villages. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Knowing the covering helps explain which parts of a roof are likely to need work first.
Shop and office owners around The Pavilions may find that a dated report on the roof is useful for planning and for any lease discussions. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Peter, its chimney, valleys and lead work are likely to be the parts that need attention first.

What we do, step by step
Where it’s relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey usually takes between one and two hours on an ordinary house, and more on a big or complicated roof. Older rural homes like those around Shreding Green can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints.
- We start with what you’ve noticed, like damp or overflowing gutters.
- The eaves gutters, downpipes and fascias are checked from ground level and windows.
- We look at hidden gutters as far as safe access allows.
- Where it is safe, we check the loft for signs of water.
- A report with photos and recommendations follows.
Before we arrive
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller

Advice
Different roofs, different checks
Aluminium and other metal gutters
Metal gutters can suffer at joints and where different metals meet. We record any corrosion or leaks we see.
Fascias and soffits
Some older soffits may contain asbestos. Any we think could be are flagged so a specialist asbestos surveyor can check them before they’re disturbed.
Landlord and commercial surveys in Shreding Green
Shared roofs need a little more planning: we need access agreed with the freeholder or managing agent. Mention it when you get in touch and we will plan the visit with that in mind.
If you own several properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To arrange surveys for several addresses, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.
