Sunninghill Gutter Survey
A survey of gutters, valleys, outlets and downpipes across Sunninghill, with drones and thermal imaging where they help. Get in touch for a price.
- Joints that drip after rain
- Soffits marked by water
- Gutters overflowing in heavy rain
Leave it or get it looked at?
Damp walls are sometimes blamed on the wrong thing. When rainwater goods are the source, treating the wall alone will not solve it. Checking the gutters first helps you spend in the right place. On a bungalow or cottage around Sunninghill, the roof sits close to the rooms below, so water can show inside quickly once it gets past the covering. Catching the cause first saves redecorating as well.
Gutter survey starts from £150, including VAT. What you pay depends on the size and height of the roof, how it can safely be seen and the package you choose.
What you get with us
- Package prices that include VAT
- Drone and thermal imaging surveys available
- A sub-250g drone, flown with a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
- Surveys seven days a week

How a gutter survey works in Sunninghill
Gutters have to slope gently towards the outlet to drain properly. Sagging brackets and slipped joints leave water standing and overflowing where the gutter dips. We look along each run for sags, gaps and leaking joints, along with the brackets and downpipe fixings. Recommendations are written down and prioritised by urgency where relevant. We’re frequently asked to look into valley or box gutters that overflow inside and gutters that have fallen out of line, on eaves gutters, parapet and box gutters and valley gutters.
Trees around homes in smaller places like Sunninghill drop leaves, twigs and moss onto roofs and into gutters. Blocked gutters overflow and soak the walls below, and moss holds water against tiles. A report spots that kind of slow problem before it becomes damp inside. Moss on the roof and weeds in the gutter are both easy to spot from ground level.
You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

Sunninghill homes and their roofs
Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates, with flat-roofed extensions, dormers and garages common everywhere. Each of these coverings has its own weak points, from fixings and valleys to flashings, chimneys and gutters. Historic houses such as St Leonard's Hill, about 4.6 miles north, show how far back building in the area around Sunninghill goes. On older houses around here, roofs frequently carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Michael's CofE Primary School, its roofs, gutters and any chimneys need the same checks as a house’s, just on a bigger scale. Trees in and around Silwood Park shed leaves that can end up in nearby gutters.

Common questions in Sunninghill
Will you come out to Sunninghill?
Yes. Sunninghill is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Sunninghill?
Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Can you tell me if my old gutters contain asbestos?
No. We do not test for asbestos. If rainwater goods or soffits look like they could contain asbestos, we note it so a specialist asbestos surveyor can check before any work.
Is a Saturday or Sunday visit possible?
Yes, weekend visits are possible as well as weekdays. To book, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Do you use drones?
Yes, where it applies and safe. We fly a sub-250g drone and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). It’s included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where it applies, the Premium Survey.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
Someone needs to let us in if we’re looking inside or in the loft. Access is agreed with you as you book.
When does the report arrive?
Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. Each one is emailed.
What we are asked to look at in Sunninghill
Overflowing gutters in a downpour are a common reason to book. Others notice a damp wall, a stained ceiling or a green streak down the brickwork. The survey helps pin down the source before more damage is done.
Common reasons to book include:
- Dripping or leaking gutter joints
- Hoppers and outlets full of debris
- Water spilling over the gutter edge
- Rotten fascias or stained soffits
If you let a flat or house near Ascot station, the gap between tenancies is a good time to have the roof looked at.
Before booking anyone
- Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- How much experience they have with roofs like yours
- What the report includes, and whether it has photographs
- What’s outside the scope of the survey
How we price gutter surveys
Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before you book. This is what makes a difference:
- Height and safe access
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- Which survey package you book
- House, block, shop or office
A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. We will give you the figure before anything is booked.
What we need to know
We will normally ask about:
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
- What’s prompted the survey
- The property’s address and postcode
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
Once you know what you need, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email. From there it is a case of choosing a package, agreeing the price and fixing a day, weekday or weekend.
Can I check my roof myself?
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.

Before and after the survey
Most of what helps is simple and safe from the ground. Our suggestions:
- Have overhanging branches cut back
- Book gutter clearing once a year, more often near trees
- Look out for overflows when it pours
- Check from the ground or a window, not a ladder
Where the evidence points to drains below ground, the report says so, so a drain survey can be arranged. Anything else we notice on the roof, as far as we can see it, is noted too.
Do not forget valley, parapet and box gutters. They block in the same way as the gutters you can see but they’re much harder to spot, so check they’re included in any clearing work.
How the survey works
Photos are taken throughout the visit, so you can see in the report what we found and where. We take close-ups from wherever is safe. Most surveys take about one to two hours at most homes, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Some parts of a survey depend on the weather, so a visit to Sunninghill is booked with the forecast in mind: drone flights and thermal imaging need the right conditions, while a look from the ground and the loft can go ahead in most weather.
