About our gutter survey in Tower Hill
We carry out gutter surveys in Tower Hill as part of our cover across London and the South East. On the day, we inspect everything that’s safely in view, from the ground, from windows and from the loft space. A visit normally takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, and longer where there are parapet, valley or box gutters to follow. The written report follows, with photographs and recommendations. Typical surveys look at fascia boards damaged by overflowing water and overflowing eaves gutters, across fascias and soffits, downpipes and outlets and hoppers.
In a small place like Tower Hill, many roofs stand in the open, which is hard on ridges, chimneys, flashings and gutters. Older walls take a long time to dry once water gets in. A roof report shows what needs attention first. On exposed older roofs, chimneys and lead flashings are often the first to give way.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

Common questions in Tower Hill
Do you survey roofs for landlords with property near Christs Hospital station?
Of course. Let us know whether a tenant or an agent will let us in, and we can send the report to you or your agent.
Is Tower Hill within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
What does the report include?
It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, with photographs throughout. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only when it is safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where it applies, a drone, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.
Will you look at parapet and box gutters as well?
Yes. These gutters frequently cause leaks indoors when they block so we pay close attention to them. Parts of them may not be visible, and the report says so.
Is a CCTV drain survey included?
No, we don’t carry out CCTV drain surveys. We check gutters, outlets, hoppers, downpipes and overflows and flags signs of a drain problem.
What’s the price of a gutter survey?
Our packages start from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. For a price for your building, call 07833 053749 or email us.
What happens if roof problems are left?
A gutter clear-out takes the leaves away, but it does not tell you why a gutter overflows. We also check the falls, joints, brackets, outlets and downpipes to show whether something else is wrong. Older and listed buildings around Tower Hill may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.
We offer three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all including VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you’d like to know.

The survey, step by step
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, such as when any problem began and what work has been done before. Then the inspection itself takes roughly 1–2 hours at a typical home, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Somewhere as small as Tower Hill, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- We agree which parts of the building you are most worried about.
- We look along each run for debris, sagging and drips.
- Outlets, hoppers, downpipes and overflows are inspected.
- We check fascias, soffits and walls for water damage.
- Findings are photographed and set out in a written report.
Before the survey
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
Getting a price
Prices start from £150, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, so phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the details.

Roof by roof
Fascias and soffits
Some older soffits may contain asbestos. We flag any that could be so a specialist asbestos surveyor can check them before they’re disturbed.
Plastic (uPVC) gutters
On plastic systems, slipped joints are one of the most common faults. We record each one we can see.
Tips that help
You do not need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:
- Look out for overflows when it pours
- Don’t climb a ladder to look in the gutters
- Make sure downpipe clips are holding
- Get trees that overhang the gutters trimmed
How quickly the report arrives depends on the package: within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and the same day for Premium. We email it to you as soon as it’s ready.
Watch your gutters from the ground or a window during heavy rain. Water spilling over the edge or out of a joint is a sign that something needs attention before the walls suffer.
Roofs, chimneys and gutters in Tower Hill
England has around 10,000 conservation areas and about 500,000 listed buildings. If your home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission, so the council is the place to ask. Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung upper walls are typical of older Sussex houses. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old Sussex buildings. On roofs like these, good slates or tiles can outlast the nails, battens, lead and mortar around them.
Landlords with a home close to Christs Hospital station may find that a roof report between tenancies helps plan work before a small defect becomes a tenant’s leak. If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Parish Church of St Mary, its chimney, valleys and lead work are likely to be the parts that need attention first. Homes near green spaces such as Warnham Park can get more leaves in their gutters in autumn, so outlets and downpipes are worth watching.
