New roof snagging in Hounslow
People book us after having a roof replaced or re-covered and some new-build owners want their roof looked at. Whatever the roof, we inspect as far as it can be seen safely including from the loft and the roof where it is safe. You then get a written report with photos to share with your roofer. We survey flashings and valleys, ridges and verges and new flat roofs, and people most frequently book us about offcuts and broken tiles left behind and poorly finished verges.
In a London terrace or conversion, the roof frequently joins the neighbours’ roofs and shares their stacks and gutters. That matters for anyone buying in Hounslow or checking a new roof there: we inspect what we’re given access to and can see safely, which may not include a neighbour’s side. If it’s a flat, the lease normally sets out who is responsible for the roof.
Where we cannot see part of the new roof, the report says so. That way, it is clear what was covered and what wasn’t.

Common questions in Hounslow
Can parking be tricky for a visit in Hounslow?
Usually it is manageable with a little notice. Let us know the parking rules on your street and we’ll work around them.
Do you carry out roof surveys in Hounslow?
Yes, Hounslow is within the area we cover. Our area covers London and South East England. Just phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and let us know about the property, and we’ll talk through which survey suits.
Do you need to get into the loft?
Where it is relevant to the survey and there is safe access, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch.
Can you settle a dispute with my builder?
No. Our job is to report on the roof as we find it. Any dispute is between you and your roofer or builder and our report gives you an independent record.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. Our survey is a roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey of the whole building. It focuses on the roof, so it sits alongside a building survey rather than replacing it.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes, once access has been agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so the building owner or managing agent needs to agree access. We inspect only the parts we are allowed to reach.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. We do not sample or test for asbestos. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it, with a recommendation to have a specialist asbestos surveyor check before it is disturbed.
What you can safely check yourself
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.
A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Buying a home or a new roof in Hounslow
Further from the centre, London’s housing takes in interwar semis with hipped roofs in clay or concrete tiles as well as slate-roofed terraces. Hips, bay roofs and later loft conversions are typical of those semis, if your home is one of them. For a purchase or a newly finished roof, the materials decide which details matter most. Historic houses such as Strawberry Hill House, about 4 miles east, show how far back building in the area around Hounslow goes. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
As a London address, Hounslow can be tricky for parking: let us know about permits, visitor bays or off-street space as you book, as a space near the door can’t be promised. If you live in an older home near Church of St Dunstan, the roof’s history matters as much as its looks, and a survey brings the past repairs to light.

What happens on the day
Where it is relevant and can be reached safely, the roof space is checked as well as the outside. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement. All in, the survey normally takes between one and two hours on an ordinary house, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. In Hounslow, visits are available on weekdays and at weekends. London parking is frequently by permit or pay-and-display, so it helps to know what’s near you, and to clear a path to the loft hatch. A back bedroom window can be the best vantage point for a rear addition, so we may ask to use one.
- You tell us what work was done and when.
- We check the coverings, ridges, hips and verges from safe vantage points.
- Valleys, flashings, gutters and visible underlay at the eaves are looked at.
- We check the loft where safe and look for debris or damage.
- Snags are listed in a photo-illustrated written report.

Advice
Do you need new roof snagging in Hounslow?
Flashings are a common source of snags. Loose or badly fitted flashings can let water in sooner rather than later.
Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:
- Cracked or slipped new tiles or slates
- Debris left in gutters or valleys
- Missing or blocked roof ventilation
- Flashings not properly dressed or fixed
For landlords with property near Sunbury station, a survey before purchase, or before signing off a new roof, saves surprises once a tenant moves in.
Before booking any roof surveyor
- When you will get the report
- Is VAT included in the price?
- Whether the loft is part of the inspection
- What insurance they carry
Why act early in Hounslow
It is easier to get snags sorted while money is still owed. After the final payment, getting them back can take longer. Our report lists what to raise. Any roof job in Hounslow means planning around parking, neighbours and access. Knowing what’s needed early gives you time to plan it calmly, rather than in a rush after a leak.
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before booking.
