New roof snagging in Hundridge: what you get
Roof work often leaves debris behind. We look for broken tiles, offcuts and nails left in gutters and on lower roofs along with any damage to other parts of the property. It’s all recorded with photos. Gutters full of offcuts can overflow in the next heavy rain, and cracked lower roofs can leak. Finding these early makes them easier to raise. We survey new-build homes, loft conversions and dormers and ridges and verges, and people most frequently book us about untidy or loose verge details and debris left in gutters or valleys.
For a small place like Hundridge, the visit is planned like any other: the journey, parking and access are simply agreed in advance. If there are outbuildings with roofs you want checked, mention them when you book, so the visit can be planned around them. Whether you’re buying or checking new work, the same care goes into it. Visits can be booked on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
You can share the report with anyone who needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent.

How we price new roof snagging
Several things affect the price of a survey:
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- The shape of the roof and its details
- How big the roof is
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, from £400 including VAT. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.
Helping us price your survey
Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:
- Anything about access we should know
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
Unsure which package suits your roof? The easiest way is to phone 07833 053749 or email us and describe the roof and why you want it surveyed. We will talk you through the options and what they cost.
What happens on the day
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, like when any problem began and what work has been done before. The inspection then takes about one to two hours for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Older rural homes like those around Hundridge can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we cannot see is noted.
- We start by finding out what was replaced and what worries you.
- We look at the tiles or slates, ridges, hips and verges from safe vantage points.
- Flashings, valleys, gutters and visible underlay at the eaves are checked.
- We look in the roof space, where there is safe access, and around the property for debris or damage.
- We send a written report with photos of each snag.
Getting ready for the survey
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Leave side gates unlocked
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
Book a survey
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. Otherwise, simply ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email whenever suits you.

Roof by roof
Clay and concrete tiles
Interlocking tiles need to sit neatly in line. We note any that look out of place.
Underlay and ventilation
Vents at the ridge, eaves or in the tiles help keep the roof space dry. Fitted vents are looked at.
FAQs for Hundridge
Do you carry out roof surveys in Hundridge?
Yes, Hundridge is one of the places we work. The survey and report are the same in Hundridge as anywhere else.
Will you come out to Hundridge?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Yes, where applicable and safe. We fly a sub-250g drone and we are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where it applies.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it, with a recommendation to have a specialist asbestos surveyor check before it is disturbed.
Is snagging available for a new-build house roof?
Yes. We inspect the roof as far as it can safely be seen and photograph what we find. It’s worth booking before your builder’s defects period ends.
How soon after the work should I book a snagging inspection?
As soon as the work is finished, and before the final payment if you can. That gives time for any snags to be put right.
How much is new roof snagging?
Our packages start from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, inc. VAT. For a price for your roof, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
What we cannot see
We only report everything that’s safely in view on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- Estimates of what fixes will cost
- Details hidden from sight
- A promise that the roof will not leak
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you. What our survey covers.
What we check
- Ridges and verges
- New flat roofs
- Flashings and valleys
- New-build homes
- Loft conversions and dormers
- Replacement roofs
Checking the roof from ground level
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Don’t go up yourself.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf, and the report can go to both. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.
