Pre-Purchase Roof Survey in Meadle
A roof survey before you buy a house or flat across Meadle, with drones and thermal imaging where they help. Call or email for a price.
- Slates or tiles that have slipped or gone
- A ridge or slope that dips
- Loose pots and cracked flaunching
Pre-purchase roof survey in Meadle: what you get
Tall, steep or hidden roofs are hard to judge from the street. Our Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and, where applicable, a drone inspection, along with a same-day report. Where a flight isn’t possible, because of airspace rules or the weather, we tell you and inspect from every other safe vantage point. We survey clay and concrete tiles, flat-roofed extensions and dormers and natural slate, and people most frequently book us about damp timbers or stains in the loft and cracked flaunching or crumbling chimney pointing.
Being in a small place like Meadle makes no difference to the inspection itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. If there are outbuildings with roofs you want checked, mention them when booking, so the visit can be planned around them. Buyers and owners of new roofs get the same approach as anywhere. Weekday and weekend visits are both available.
The report works through the roof section by section, from the coverings down to the gutters. You’ll see the good as well as the bad.

Roof by roof
Clay and concrete tiles
Clay and concrete tiles commonly last 50 years or more. We check for slipped, cracked and missing tiles, along with odd replacement tiles that hint at earlier leaks.
Chimney stacks
We inspect the outside of the stack, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. If a flue needs testing, we’ll suggest who to ask.
What a survey costs
Our packages start from £150, including VAT. The price for your roof depends on:
- The size of the roof
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
- Basic, Standard or Premium
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package matters as well. We’ll give you the figure before anything is booked.
What we need to know
Getting the details right at the start saves time. Please include:
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage
To arrange a survey, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and tell us the address and what’s prompted the survey. You will know the price before anything is booked.
For landlords and managing agents
For a freeholder or residents’ company, a roof report is a sound basis for a maintenance plan, putting the urgent items at the top.
Landlords, agents and building managers in Meadle and across Buckinghamshire can book any of our surveys. For a price for a let property or a block, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Why get it checked now?
A mortgage valuation is not a roof survey. Its job is to check the property’s value for the mortgage, and it won’t look closely at the roof. A roof survey is carried out for the buyer. Older and listed buildings around Meadle may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, from £400 including VAT. We will tell you which package suits the questions you have.

What we do, step by step
There is not much for you to do on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, such as stains, drips or loose pieces, and we will get on with the inspection. The survey itself takes about one to two hours for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Older rural homes like those around Meadle can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely, and anything we can’t see is noted.
- You book once your offer is accepted and let us know the address and your timetable.
- We arrange access with you, the agent or the seller.
- We look at the roof from ground level, from windows, from the loft space and from the roof where safe.
- We check and photograph the slates or tiles, ridges, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters.
- We email a photo-illustrated written report and recommendations, ready for you to use before exchange.
Preparing for the visit
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Leave a clear route to the loft
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at

Advice
More services for Meadle
Can I check my roof myself?
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That is where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.
FAQs for Meadle
Is Meadle in the area you cover?
Yes, Meadle is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs.
Is Meadle within the area you cover?
Yes, Meadle is covered. We survey roofs across London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
We’re covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
Do you go up on the roof?
Only where it’s safe. We also inspect from ground level, upper windows and the loft space.
How many surveys have you done?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.
Do you use drones?
Where it helps and the rules allow, yes. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID and fly a drone under 250g, and the airspace and weather are checked before every flight.
What a pre-purchase roof survey looks like in Meadle
If the drone is used for your survey, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. There are about 500,000 buildings on England’s list of listed buildings, and around 10,000 conservation areas. If your home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission, so check with the council.
Take an older house close to Owlswick Chapel: the roof may have had decades of patch repairs, and the survey shows where they are. If you own a rental within reach of Monks Risborough station, the roof is worth checking before you add another property to a portfolio or pay a roofer in full.
