What we’re asked to look at in Nyewood

Most viewings never get near the roof. You see the rooms, not the slates. Fresh decoration can also cover the marks an old leak left behind, so a closer look is worth having before you commit.

A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:

  • Gaps where slates or tiles have come loose
  • Sagging ridge lines or uneven roof slopes
  • Ponding, blisters or splits on a flat roof
  • Old water stains in the roof space

For landlords with property near Petersfield station, a roof report gives you a clear picture before you buy or settle up with a roofer.

What to expect from a roof survey

About our pre-purchase roof survey in Nyewood

Tall, steep or hidden roofs are hard to judge from the street. Our Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and, where applicable, a drone inspection, and the report arrives the same day. Where a flight is not possible, because of airspace rules or the weather, we tell you and inspect from every other safe vantage point. Typical surveys look at roof slopes that look uneven or sagging and signs of past leaks inside the loft, across natural slate, the roof space and clay and concrete tiles.

Being in a small place like Nyewood makes no difference to the inspection itself: the journey, parking and access are simply agreed ahead of time. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages with roofs you’d like looked at when booking, so the visit can be planned around them. Whether you’re buying or checking new work, the same care goes into it. Weekday and weekend visits are both available.

The report works through the roof section by section, from the coverings down to the gutters, with a note and a photo for each point. It records what’s sound as well as what isn’t.

What we can’t see

Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:

  • Defects hidden under coverings or inside walls without opening up
  • The condition of the rest of the house (that’s a RICS home survey)
  • Whether materials contain asbestos (that needs a specialist asbestos surveyor)

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will recommend the right survey before you book. What our survey covers.

What affects the cost of pre-purchase roof surveys

When we price a survey, we consider:

  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings
  • Basic, Standard or Premium
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone

For a price for your roof in Nyewood, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and a few details. The price is agreed before a date is set.

What to let us know when you contact us

These details help when you get in touch:

  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
  • Whether there is a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
  • The address and postcode of the property
  • Your timetable, such as an exchange date

Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To arrange a day that suits you, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Why act early in Nyewood

When a chain is moving fast, a roof survey can feel like one more delay. Weekend visits are available as well as weekdays, and the Premium Survey report arrives the same day, so it can fit around a tight timetable. In a place like Nyewood, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. It’s worth including them in a survey before a winter does the damage.

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where applicable, from £400 including VAT. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.

How it works

Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings as a photo-illustrated written report, sent to you by email. On timing, most surveys take between one and two hours at a typical house, with time for the loft where it can be reached. Cottages and farmhouses around Nyewood frequently have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we can’t see is noted.

  1. We help you pick the package that suits the property.
  2. A date is booked on a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
  3. The coverings, ridges, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are inspected and photographed.
  4. Standard and Premium surveys add the extra checks they include.
  5. We send the report with recommendations ranked by urgency, ready for you to discuss with the seller or agent.

Before we arrive

  • If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
  • Leave a clear route to the loft

FAQs for Nyewood

Do you cover Nyewood?

Yes, Nyewood is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs.

Do you cover smaller places like Nyewood?

Yes, Nyewood is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

At what stage of buying should I get the roof surveyed?

Once your offer has been accepted, and before exchange. That gives you time to use the findings, whether that means asking questions or negotiating.

Can you survey a shared roof?

Yes, as long as access is agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so we need permission from the building owner or managing agent. We can only inspect what we’re given access to.

How quickly will I get the report?

That depends on which survey you choose: within 48 hours for Basic, 24 to 48 hours for Standard and the same day for Premium. Let us know your timetable when booking.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

We survey seven days a week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Let us know which days suit you as you book.

Do you go up on the roof?

Where it is safe, yes. Much of the inspection is done from the ground, from windows and from the loft space. On Premium, a drone is used where applicable.

Buying a home or a new roof in Nyewood

Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Material and age explain a lot of what turns up on the day, whether the roof is old or brand new. With Uppark about 2.7 miles south-west, Nyewood sits in an area with a long building history. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.
