Common questions in Eversley Centre
Do you cover Eversley Centre?
Yes. Our area covers London and South East England, and Eversley Centre is part of that. Just ring 07833 053749 or email us and let us know about the property.
Will you come out to Eversley Centre?
Yes, we do. Our area covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Does someone need to be in?
Not always. If we only need the outside, we can agree that beforehand, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.
Can you trace a leak in dry weather?
In many cases, yes. Stains, tide marks, damp timbers and moisture readings typically point the way. Some leaks only show in particular weather, so photos and notes from when it leaks help a lot.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only where it’s safe to do so. We inspect what can be seen safely: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the loft space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where it applies. Anything we can’t see is noted in the report.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes, if the building owner or managing agent agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we are allowed to reach.
How much is a survey?
Our price is from £150, including VAT. Our Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all with VAT included.
How a roof leak investigation works in Eversley Centre
We use moisture detection and thermal imaging where they help. Moisture detection confirms where timbers, plaster or insulation are damp. Thermal imaging shows temperature differences that can point to wet areas, not water itself, so we confirm what it suggests with moisture readings. Moisture detection is included in the Standard Survey, and thermal imaging in Premium. The best thermal results come after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. We survey the roof space, flat roof details and chimney stacks, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are a leak that comes and goes with the weather and damp ceilings under a flat roof.
Somewhere as small as Eversley Centre, older roofs have frequently been repaired many times. A new leak may be fresh damage or the latest sign of long-term wear, and the difference matters, particularly to an insurer. We look at what can be seen safely and set out what we find. Damp in old walls and timbers is slow to dry, so the sooner the cause is found the better.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Eversley Centre
Shared roofs need a little more planning: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it as you book and we will plan the visit with that in mind.
Landlords, agents and building managers in Eversley Centre and across Hampshire can book any of our surveys. To discuss a property or a block, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
What this survey can’t tell you
Some things cannot be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:
- Whether rotten timbers meet design loads
- Leaks from plumbing, tanks or pipework rather than the roof
- A promise to find every leak on a single visit
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll suggest the right survey. What our survey covers.
What this survey covers
- Chimney stacks
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Flat roof details
- The roof space
- Lead flashings
- Rooflights and dormers
- Slate and tile slopes
What we do, step by step
The aim of the visit is simple: to look at the leaking roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photographs go into the written report. The visit typically takes between one and two hours for most homes, though a hard-to-trace leak can take longer. Cottages and farmhouses around Eversley Centre often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can safely be seen, and anything we can’t see is noted.
- You tell us where the water shows and when it appears.
- The visit starts indoors, at the stain and in the loft.
- Likely entry points outside are looked at, from flashings and valleys to gutters and outlets.
- Moisture readings and thermal imaging are used where they help.
- We email a report with photos, the likely entry point and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared

Photos help, if you have them. Take them safely from ground level or a window; never climb up to get a better view. To get started, call 07833 053749 or email us.
Advice
Tips that help
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:
- Let us know about any past repairs to the roof
- Keep water away from lights and sockets
- Photograph the stain each time it appears
- Don’t climb onto the roof to look
If there are several possible sources, we list them in order of likelihood. Recommendations are prioritised by urgency where relevant, so you know what to deal with first.
Check the loft after heavy rain, with care and a good torch. Look for drips, damp patches and stains on timbers. Take photos of anything that changes.
Roof leak investigations around Eversley Centre
There are about 500,000 buildings on England’s list of listed buildings, and around 10,000 conservation areas. If your home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission, so check with the council. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Each of these roof types has its own typical places for water to get in.
For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Mary, the leak may come from a chimney, a valley or tired lead rather than the covering itself. For landlords with property near Crowthorne station, a tenant living with a leak needs the cause found, not just the stain painted over. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Charles Kingsley's Church of England Primary School, on a building that size, finding the source of a drip means looking well beyond the stain.

Why act early in Eversley Centre
Water damage grows the longer it’s left. Damp spreads into rafters, ceilings and insulation. Tracing it now means less to put right later. Around Eversley Centre, older homes often have old roof timbers, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it’s left.
