How a roof survey works in Eversley Centre
People book a roof survey for all sorts of reasons. Some have spotted a stain or a slipped slate, while others just want to know where they stand. Whatever the reason, the survey works the same way: a careful look, then a clear written report. Visits run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, so it is easy to find a day that suits. We survey clay and concrete tiles, flat roofs and natural slate, and the problems we are asked to look at most are ridge tiles that have lifted or moved and blocked, sagging or leaking gutters.
Somewhere as small as Eversley Centre, homes are frequently older cottages and farmhouses, with outbuildings and some newer houses. Roofs there can be clay tile, slate, stone or thatch, and chimney stacks are often old. Each needs checking in its own way, and thatch is a specialist material we report on as far as it can be seen. On older roofs, it is typically the chimneys and lead flashings that need work first.
The report is written in plain words, so it makes sense without any roofing background. Photos show what each point refers to, with the urgent items made clear.

When you need someone else
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so there are some things a survey can’t cover:
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- Walls, floors and services below the roof
If you’re not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.

Landlords, agents and block managers in Eversley Centre
If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in, at a time agreed in advance. We survey on weekdays and at weekends, which helps when tenants work during the week.
For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out with the most urgent first where relevant, which helps with budgets and planning.
Why it’s worth a survey now in Eversley Centre
Before you put a home on the market, it’s useful to know the roof’s condition. You can deal with defects before a buyer’s surveyor finds them, or at least know what to expect. In a place like Eversley Centre, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. A quick look before winter can save a lot.

The survey, step by step
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. Then the inspection itself takes roughly 1–2 hours for a house, and longer for a large or complex roof. Older roofs in small places like Eversley Centre can have low, tight loft spaces, so tell us about the loft hatch and any ladder. We only go where it’s safe.
- You pick the package that suits your roof.
- We arrive at the agreed time and talk through any concerns.
- Coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are inspected and photographed.

Eversley Centre questions
Is drone flying allowed in Eversley Centre?
Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Eversley Centre is about 2 miles from Blackbushe Airport, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and the rest of the survey doesn’t depend on the drone.
Will you come out to Eversley Centre?
Yes, Eversley Centre is covered. Our area covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.
Does the weather affect the survey?
Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drones can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. We will rearrange with you if the weather isn’t right.
How long will you be at the property?
On site, it typically takes about one to two hours at a typical home, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. The report follows within 48 hours for Basic, 24 to 48 hours for Standard and the same day for Premium.
Will you climb onto the roof?
When the roof and the conditions make it safe, yes. Many roofs can be seen well from windows, vantage points and the loft, and Premium includes a drone where applicable.
Will the report say how many years my roof has left?
We do not put a figure on it, because so much depends on the fixings, underlay and upkeep. What we do is explain the roof’s condition and what to deal with first.
How quickly will I get the report?
Premium reports arrive the same day, Standard within 24 to 48 hours and Basic within 48 hours. Photos are included.
Roofs, chimneys and gutters in Eversley Centre
Blackbushe Airport is about 2 miles from Eversley Centre. Where the drone is part of the survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying. Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Whichever you have, the details that tend to fail before the covering itself get the closest look.
Trees in and around Shepperlands Farm Nature Reserve shed leaves that can end up in nearby gutters. If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary, its roof may have old fixings, lead flashings and chimneys that need a closer look.

What we look for on each type of roof
Concrete interlocking tiles
Many post-war houses have concrete interlocking tiles. They last well, but their surface erodes slowly, and they can crack.
Chimney stacks
We check the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings of each stack. We note any lean or loose pots.
Do you need a roof survey in Eversley Centre?
Slates and tiles frequently outlast the fixings that hold them. ‘Nail fatigue’ is common on slate roofs: the nails rust and the slates slide. On tiled roofs, battens and pegs can rot, letting tiles move.
Signs worth acting on include:
- Leaking gutter joints and downpipes
- Leaning or weathered chimney stacks
- Loose ridge or hip tiles
- Valley linings that have cracked or split
For landlords with property near Crowthorne station, knowing the condition of the roof, chimneys and gutters helps you plan work rather than react to complaints.
