Storm damage roof reports for homes and businesses in Egypt

A storm damage roof report is an independent record of the damage to your roof after a storm. It sets out what is damaged, with photos, and what we think the likely cause is. You can then give it to your insurer with your claim. Insurers decide claims on their own policy wording. We aren’t loss adjusters and can’t say whether a claim will be paid. Typical surveys look at broken or displaced guttering and damaged ridges and hips, across chimney stacks, flat roofs and flashings.

Somewhere as small as Egypt, older roofs have often been repaired many times. A new leak may be fresh damage or the latest sign of long-term wear, and the difference matters, particularly to an insurer. The report says what was seen and what it points to. Older walls and timbers hold water for a long time, so it is worth finding the cause soon.

The report works through the roof section by section, from the coverings down to the gutters, each with a short note and a photograph. It records what’s sound as well as what isn’t.

What we can’t see

Every survey has limits, and it’s better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:

  • Your insurer’s view of the claim
  • Whether your insurer will pay the claim
  • The work of a loss adjuster appointed by your insurer

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll point you to the right survey before you book. What a survey covers and does not.

Storm damage roof reports around Egypt

Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Knowing the roof type helps narrow down where water may be getting in. If your home is older, it’s worth knowing whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before planning roof work. Listed building consent covers changes to a listed building’s special interest, and an Article 4 direction can bring extra controls in a conservation area.

If you let a flat or house near Micheldever station, a clear finding on where water gets in helps you brief a roofer straight away. If you live in an older home near Ebenezer Methodist Chapel, the leak may come from a chimney, a valley or tired lead rather than the covering itself.

Egypt is about 7 miles north of Winchester, in Hampshire. Egypt gets the same service as everywhere else we work: a close look at whatever is safely visible, photographs and a clear written report. Our area takes in places right across Hampshire, from the larger towns to small villages. We also survey roofs in Southampton.

We cover every part of the SO21 postcode area for storm damage roof reports. We offer storm damage roof reports to properties on Alexandria Road and Stockbridge Road East. We also cover the places around Egypt: Sutton Scotney (1 mile south-west), Hunton (1 mile east), Stoke Charity (1 mile south-east), Barton Stacey (2 miles north-west) and South Wonston (3 miles south). Larger places within reach include Basingstoke (12 miles north-east), Winchester (7 miles south), Eastleigh (13 miles south), Andover (7 miles north-west), Chandler's Ford (12 miles south) and Alton (15 miles east).

What we do, step by step

After the inspection, everything we found is written up in a report with photographs, emailed to you. As for time on site, most surveys take an hour or two at a house, and longer if the damage is spread across a large roof. In a hamlet or village like Egypt, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. First we go through when the storm hit and what you’ve noticed.
  2. We check the roof from wherever it’s safe.
  3. We record and photograph the damage.
  4. We note the likely cause and any signs of older wear.
  5. We send you the report by email for your insurer.

Preparing for the visit

  • Leave side gates unlocked
  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey
  • Make sure the loft hatch can be reached

Booking a survey

Most bookings start with a short call: ring 07833 053749 or email us, and we’ll ask about the building and what you need. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Common questions in Egypt

Do you cover smaller places like Egypt?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.

Do you cover Egypt?

We do. The survey and report are the same in Egypt as anywhere else, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.

How long is the visit?

That depends on the size and shape of the roof, but most surveys take roughly 1–2 hours at a house, and longer if the damage is spread across a large roof. The report is sent afterwards by email.

How many surveys have you done?

We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs.

Will you check the loft?

Yes, where the survey calls for it and there is safe access. We look for staining, damp, daylight and signs of movement.

Will you fly a drone over my roof?

Yes, where it’s applicable. Whether we can fly on the day depends on the weather and the airspace rules, including flight restriction zones near airports. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator.

Do you act for me with my insurer?

No. We’re not loss adjusters, and we don’t negotiate claims. We give you an independent report of the damage for you to send to your insurer.

How the survey changes by roof type

Flat roof coverings

Debris blown onto a flat roof can puncture the covering or block outlets. We record what we find.

Ridge and hip tiles

The ridge and hips are among the most exposed parts of a roof. We record any that have lifted, cracked or come away.

Prices for storm damage roof reports in Egypt

All our prices include VAT. The things that change the price are:

  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
  • The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey

Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, from £400 with VAT included. We can help you choose the package that fits what you’d like to know.

Getting in touch

If you can, have these to hand when you contact us:

  • When you need the report by
  • The address and postcode of the property
  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof

Every survey is priced before it is booked, so you know the cost up front. Our price is from £150, including VAT. To book, ring 07833 053749 or email us.

Can I check my roof myself?

What you cannot do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That is where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses

Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, putting the urgent items at the top.

If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in, at a time agreed ahead of time. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, which can make access easier.
