Thermal roof surveys near Egypt

How the survey works

Where it’s relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging. The whole visit usually takes about one to two hours at most homes; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. In a small place like Egypt, access is typically the main thing to plan. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. You tell us about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
  2. We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
  3. We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
  4. Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
  5. You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.

Before the survey

  • Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Let us know about parking near the property
  • Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at

How to book

Most bookings start with a short call: call 07833 053749 or use the contact form, and we will ask about the building and what you need. The price is agreed before a date is set.

How a thermal roof survey works in Egypt

Thermal imaging is frequently most useful on flat roofs, from small extensions to large commercial roofs. It can show patterns that point to trapped moisture under the membrane. On pitched roofs, slates and tiles over a ventilated space can hide what’s below, so we combine the camera with an inspection from the loft where there’s safe access. If you’re worried about damp around chimneys and parapets and leaks that are hard to trace, we can find out what’s behind it.

In a village or hamlet like Egypt, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Weather and airspace are looked at ahead of the visit. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

We keep jargon out of it: if work is needed, the report says so clearly.

Common roof problems in Egypt

Once a leak has been fixed, people often ask whether the roof is still wet. A thermal survey with moisture readings can show whether wet areas remain when the conditions on the day are suitable.

It is worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:

  • Thin or uneven insulation in the roof
  • Stains that keep coming back
  • Leaks that are hard to trace
  • Heat escaping through the roof

Around Egypt, as everywhere, small roof faults are simplest to sort before they let water in.

Before booking anyone

  • What’s outside the scope of the survey
  • Is there a chance to talk the report through?
  • If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
  • Will the report include photos?

Flying and imaging in Egypt

Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. Older houses in the South East frequently have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that is where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. Older buildings may be listed or sit in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. In either case, a change of roofing material may need consent.

If you live in an older home near Ebenezer Methodist Chapel, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.

Egypt is about 7 miles north of Winchester, in Hampshire. Egypt is part of the area we cover as part of our work across London and South East England. Egypt is one of the towns and villages in Hampshire where we work for thermal roof surveys. We also survey roofs in Southampton.

Thermal roof surveys in SO21 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. You will find streets such as Alexandria Road and Stockbridge Road East, and we cover them all. Close by, we survey roofs in Sutton Scotney (1 mile south-west), Hunton (1 mile east), Stoke Charity (1 mile south-east), Barton Stacey (2 miles north-west) and South Wonston (3 miles south). We also work in nearby towns such as Basingstoke (12 miles north-east), Winchester (7 miles south), Eastleigh (13 miles south), Andover (7 miles north-west), Chandler's Ford (12 miles south) and Alton (15 miles east).

When you need someone else

A survey is a close look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. Its limits include:

  • Structural calculations, which need a structural engineer
  • Insulation values or heat loss calculations
  • Clear results when the conditions on the day are poor

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll recommend the right survey. What a survey covers and does not.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Ceilings below the roof
  • Flat roofs
  • Pitched roof slopes
  • Commercial roofs
  • Insulated roof spaces
  • Loft conversions

Egypt questions

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Egypt?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Is Egypt within the area you cover?

Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Is thermal imaging useful on pitched roofs?

It can show heat loss and some damp, but it has more limits there. We explain what the images can and can’t tell you, and we check them with a visual inspection and moisture readings.

How soon will I get the report?

Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. All of them come by email.

How much does a thermal roof survey cost?

Thermal imaging is included in our Premium Survey, from £400. The Premium Survey also covers a full inspection, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a report on the same day.

Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?

Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Just tell us the days that suit you.

Do I have to be there for the survey?

It depends on what we need to see. For inside areas and the roof space, someone has to give us access; we’ll agree the details when you book.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That is where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.

Roof by roof

Felt and asphalt flat roofs

Felt and asphalt roofs often show wet areas as patches that differ from the rest. We check those patches with moisture readings.

Parapets, valleys and junctions

Water often gets in where roofs meet walls, parapets or valley gutters. Thermal imaging can help show damp patterns around them.

Leave it or get it looked at?

If a big flat roof may need replacing, knowing the wet areas first is useful. Thermal imaging, checked with moisture readings, gives a clearer picture before you commit. In a small place like Egypt, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
