Enfield Lock Storm Damage Roof Report
Not sure what state the roof is in? You can book a storm damage roof report in Enfield Lock and across Greater London.
- Broken or displaced guttering
- Lifted or missing ridge and hip tiles
- Stains appearing after strong winds
Leave it or get it looked at?
A clear, independent record helps you explain the damage to your insurer. It sets out what we found and the likely cause, alongside any photos you took yourself. London’s older roofs often have bitumen felt underlay or none at all, so a slipped slate can soon mean water inside. Left alone, that means wet timbers and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the roof fault itself.
Prices quoted always include VAT, and the report is not charged as an extra. Our price is from £150, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.

About our storm damage roof report in Enfield Lock
When a storm has damaged your roof, a written record can help you explain it to your insurer. We photograph the damage, describe it and note whether it fits storm damage, older wear or both. We aren’t loss adjusters, and we can’t say whether a claim will be paid. What you get is an independent view of the roof’s condition. If you are worried about torn or lifted flat roof coverings and lead lifted at abutments, we can find out what’s behind it, on gutters and fascias, slate and tile slopes and chimney stacks alike.
In a London flat, water can travel some way before it shows. That makes the source hard to pin down, and finding it matters for whoever has to deal with it. We look at what we are given access to in Enfield Lock, inside and out. It helps to know when the water appears and in what weather.
The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Different roofs, different checks
Lead flashings
Flashings with older defects frequently fail in high winds. Our report separates fresh damage from older wear where we can.
Flat roof coverings
Debris blown onto a flat roof can puncture the covering or block outlets. We record what we find.
Questions from Enfield Lock
Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in Enfield Lock?
It can be, so it’s useful to let us know about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when booking. The visit is then planned around what’s available.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Enfield Lock?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first. Let us know about it as you book and we will plan the survey around it.
Do you act for me with my insurer?
No. We are not loss adjusters, and we don’t negotiate claims. We provide an independent record of the roof, which you can pass to your insurer.
Will you go up on the roof?
Only if it’s safe. We inspect everything that’s safely in view: from the ground, from windows and vantage points, from the loft space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where applicable. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.
Do you use drones?
Where it helps and it is safe, yes. Flights depend on the weather on the day and airspace rules, and we check for restrictions near airports before flying. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator.
Will you check the loft?
Yes, where the survey calls for it and there is safe access. We look for staining, damp, daylight and signs of movement.
DIY checks: what’s safe
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when you book.
What we do, step by step
We look at the roof from outside and, where it’s relevant and there is safe access, from inside the loft space too. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey usually takes about one to two hours for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. For a visit in Enfield Lock, parking and access are the things to plan: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space, which floor the property is on and how to get into the loft. We then look at everything that’s safely in view from the ground, windows, the loft and, where it is safe, the roof itself.
- You tell us when the storm was and what damage you’ve seen.
- The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows and from the roof space where it’s safe.
- Each area of damage is photographed and described.
- The likely cause is recorded, along with any evidence of older wear.
- You get a written report you can pass to your insurer.
Before the survey

- Show us where any leaks or stains appear

Storm damage roof reports in Enfield Lock: local notes
Alongside Victorian and Edwardian terraces, outer London has a great many interwar semis, frequently with hipped roofs of clay or concrete tiles. Hips, bay roofs and later loft conversions are typical of those semis, if your home is one of them. Where water gets in depends a good deal on what the roof is made of and how it is detailed. The wider area around Enfield Lock has a long history of building, with Forty Hall about 1.8 miles west. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
If you live in an older home near Ss Peter and Paul Church, the leak may come from a chimney, a valley or tired lead rather than the covering itself. Homes near green spaces such as Gunpowder Park can get more leaves in their gutters in autumn, so outlets and downpipes are worth watching.

When to book a survey in Enfield Lock
Roofs that were already worn are more likely to suffer in a storm. Nail fatigue, eroded ridge mortar and tired flashings can all fail in high winds. We record recent damage alongside older defects.
People normally book a survey when they’ve noticed something like this:
- Damaged flat roof membrane
- Gutters pulled loose in the wind
- Lifted or missing ridge and hip tiles
- Stains appearing after strong winds
Take a building like Prince of Wales Primary School: on a building that size, finding the source of a drip means looking well beyond the stain.
Questions to ask before booking
- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
- How soon the report will arrive
- Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
