Independent storm damage roof reports in Farley Wood

Storm damage roof report in Farley Wood

Storms tend to find the weak points on a roof. Slates and tiles slip or blow off, ridge and hip tiles lift, flashings pull away and flat roof coverings can tear. Trees and branches can also hit roofs in a storm. We record the damage on your roof and photograph each part. Any older wear we can see is recorded as well. Typical surveys look at broken or displaced guttering and stains appearing after strong winds, on ridges and hips, flashings and gutters and fascias.

Older cottages and houses around Farley Wood may have roofs with little or no underlay. Once the slates or tiles let water past, there is little to stop it reaching the ceiling. Finding where it gets in, and whether it’s old wear or new damage, decides what comes next. Wet battens and insulation in the loft are often the first clue.

You can share the report with anyone who needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent, whichever applies.

FAQs for Farley Wood

Is Farley Wood within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.

Is my home in Farley Wood listed or in a conservation area?

Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.

How are storm damage reports priced?

Our reports start from £150. Commercial and larger roofs are quoted on size. The report doesn’t include repair costs.

How experienced are you?

We have more than 20 years’ experience and have completed over 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.

Can I challenge a declined storm claim?

Raise it with your insurer first. If it isn’t resolved, the Financial Ombudsman Service may be able to help. The Ombudsman looks at whether there were storm conditions, whether the damage fits a storm and whether the storm was the main cause.

Can you inspect my roof with a drone?

Yes, where it’s applicable. Our sub-250g drone is flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID, and the airspace and weather are checked before every flight.

Do you need to get into the loft?

If there’s a loft and safe access to it, yes. From inside, the underside of the roof often shows damp, staining or daylight that cannot be seen from outside.

Why it’s worth a survey now in Farley Wood

The sooner the damage is recorded, the clearer the evidence. Further storms and quick fixes can make the picture less clear. Around Farley Wood, leaves and moss in gutters lead to overflowing water and damp walls, especially where trees overhang. Dealing with the cause is simple; drying out a wall is not.

There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.

What we do, step by step

We work from the outside in: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the roof space where it can be reached. All told, expect an hour or two for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. With a bit of garden around a house, as there frequently is around Farley Wood, the roof can be viewed from several angles. Mention any side of the property we cannot get to. Inside, the loft is looked at where it can be reached safely.

  1. You let us know when the storm was and what damage you’ve seen.
  2. The roof is looked at from the ground, from windows and from the loft space where it’s safe.
  3. Each area of damage is photographed and described.
  4. The likely cause is recorded, along with any evidence of older wear.
  5. You get a written report you can pass to your insurer.

Before the survey

  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared

Storm damage roof reports around Farley Wood

Listing and conservation areas can both shape what roof work is allowed on an older home. The council is the place to check, along with Historic England’s list, before anyone quotes for re-roofing. Bracknell, which Farley Wood is part of, is one of England’s post-war new towns. Many homes in the new towns date from the post-war decades, with concrete interlocking tiles, low-pitched roofs and flat-roofed garages and porches. Leaks on homes like these frequently come from flat-roofed additions or from rain driven up under low-pitched tiles.

If you run a hotel or guest house in or near Farley Wood, a roof problem can mean rooms out of use. If you let a flat or house near Bracknell station, tracing a leak quickly matters when a tenant is living with it.

Storms don’t only affect pitched roofs. Coverings can tear or peel back at the edges, and water can pond where outlets are blocked. Our report covers flat and pitched roofs.

It’s worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:

  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
  • Damaged ridges and hips
  • Loose or torn flashings
