Storm damage roof reports in Heron Quays

Storm damage roof report in Heron Quays

A storm damage roof report is priced from £150. It is a report with photos, sent by email. It isn’t a repair quote and does not include repair costs, so you’ll need a roofer’s quote for that. The insurer may still send a loss adjuster of its own. What you get is an independent record of the damage and what seems to have caused it. If you’ve noticed cowls or aerials dislodged in the wind and water coming in after the storm, a survey will tell you what’s going on.

In a London flat, water can travel some way before it shows. Tracing it back matters, both for dealing with the cause and for any insurance claim. We check what we are given access to in Heron Quays, inside and out. It helps to know when the water appears and in what weather.

The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

Roof by roof

Slate roofs

After strong winds, we frequently see cracked and slipped slates. Each area is photographed and described.

Clay and concrete tiles

Broken or missing tiles leave the underlay exposed to rain. Each gap is recorded with a photo.

What we do, step by step

When we arrive, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that is worrying you. After that, we look at everything we can see safely. Most surveys take an hour or two for most houses, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Many London properties are flats or terraces with no side access, so rear slopes are viewed from windows, the loft or, where a flight is allowed, by drone. If the building has a managing agent or access rules, tell us when you book.

  1. We note the date of the storm and the damage you’ve seen.
  2. The roof is inspected from safe positions.
  3. Each area of damage is photographed and described.
  4. We note the likely cause and any signs of older wear.
  5. You get a written report to pass to your insurer.

What we can’t see

We only report what can safely be seen on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:

  • Repair costs or quotes for the work
  • Your insurer’s view of the claim
  • What’s beneath slates, tiles or membranes

Heron Quays: your questions answered

Do you carry out roof surveys in Heron Quays?

Yes, Heron Quays is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.

Can parking be tricky for a visit in Heron Quays?

Sometimes, yes. Where there are permit zones, a visitor permit or nearby pay-and-display bay works well, and a driveway is even better.

Is wear and tear covered by insurance?

Insurers usually exclude wear and tear. Our report gives an honest view of what’s recent damage and what’s older wear. The claim decision is your insurer’s.

How do I arrange a storm damage roof report in Heron Quays?

Simply ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day, weekday or weekend.

Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?

No. We check the roof, not the whole building, and it isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.

How strong does the wind have to be for a storm claim?

Each policy has its own definition. Many treat gusts of about 55 mph as storm conditions, but your policy sets the actual test.

How long is the visit?

That depends on the size and shape of the roof; most visits take about 1–2 hours for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. The report is sent afterwards by email.

Common roof problems in Heron Quays

Branches and trees often come down on roofs during storms. We record the damage and where it is, backed up with photos.

People typically book a survey after spotting one of these:

  • Slates and tiles blown off the roof
  • Lead lifted at abutments
  • Water coming in after the storm
  • Damage from fallen branches or debris

Homes near green spaces such as Sir John McDougall Gardens can get more leaves in their gutters in autumn, and blocked gutters overflow and soak walls.
