About our storm damage roof report in Leeds
A storm damage roof report is an independent record of the damage to your roof after a storm. It sets out what is damaged, with photos, and what we think the likely cause is. It is yours to pass to your insurer. The decision on any claim rests with your insurer and its policy wording. We are not loss adjusters and can’t say whether a claim will be paid. We survey slate and tile slopes, ridges and hips and chimney stacks, and people most often book us about slipped or missing slates or tiles and broken or displaced guttering.
Being in a small place like Leeds makes no difference to how a leak or storm damage is looked at: we simply plan the journey and access ahead. Let us know where the water shows, when it appears and anything you’ve noticed outside, plus any earlier repairs. If you have photographs of the water coming in, they help as well.
We write the report in plain English, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photograph where possible, with the urgent items made clear.

Storm damage roof reports in Leeds: local notes
Older houses across Kent often have handmade clay or peg tiles, and many have tile-hung walls. Oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses are part of the county’s older buildings too. Where water gets in depends a good deal on what the roof is made of and how it is detailed. Leeds Castle, about 1 mile east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Leeds. If you own one of the older houses, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Leeds and Broomfield Church of England Primary School, tracing a leak on a big roof starts with where the water appears and works back. If you run a business near The Mall Maidstone, a leak can close part of a shop or office, so finding the cause quickly matters.
Leeds is about 4 miles east of Maidstone, in Kent. From houses to flats and shops in Leeds, we can survey the roof. Across Kent, we cover Leeds and the places around it.

The survey, step by step
The visit has one job: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photos go into the written report. The visit typically takes an hour or two at a typical home, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Cottages and farmhouses around Leeds frequently have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely.
- First we go through when the storm hit and what you’ve noticed.
- The roof is inspected from safe positions.
- Each area of damage is photographed and described.
- The report notes whether the damage fits a storm, older wear or both.
- You get a written report to pass to your insurer.
Before we arrive
- If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent
- Check we can get to the back of the property
- For flats, check roof access has been agreed

Leave it or get it looked at?
Your policy may say how quickly you need to report damage. Check the wording and tell your insurer as soon as you can. Our report can then add a clear record. Around Leeds, older homes often have old roof timbers, and water through a failed covering can rot timber if it is left.
A Basic Survey starts from £150, with VAT included. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, both including VAT. We confirm the price for the job before booking.

For landlords and managing agents
For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait, which helps when budgeting.
If you own several properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To arrange surveys for several addresses, phone 07833 053749 or email us with the addresses.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
A lot can be seen from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please do not climb up for a closer look.
Do you need a storm damage roof report in Leeds?
Insurers frequently want evidence of what has been damaged and why. A written report with photos gives you something clear to pass on. Your insurer still makes the decision.
Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:
- Damaged flat roof membrane
- Water coming in after the storm
- Roofs hit by falling trees
- Damaged ridges and hips
If you let a flat or house near Hollingbourne station, finding the cause of a leak fast keeps a tenant’s home dry and the work focused.
Before you book any roof surveyor
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
- Whether VAT is added on top
- Will the report include photos?
- When you will get the report
What we can’t see
This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Your insurer’s view of the claim
- Areas we can’t see safely
- Repair costs or quotes for the work

Questions from Leeds
Is Leeds in the area you cover?
Yes. Our area covers London and South East England, and Leeds is part of that. You can call 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address and a few details.
Do you cover smaller places like Leeds?
Yes, Leeds is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.
How should I record storm damage myself?
Only from the ground or from windows. Never climb onto a roof after a storm. With binoculars, you can see a lot from the ground, and we’ll record the rest.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Where it is applicable and safe, yes. We fly a sub-250g drone and we are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where applicable.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. This is a survey of the roof only, and it isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.
What if the roof was already worn?
Most policies do not cover wear and tear. Our report records storm damage and any older wear we see, so you know what the roof shows. How the policy applies is up to your insurer.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. We look at the parts we are given access to.
