Thermal roof surveys in Ashampstead Green

Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Ashampstead Green

Our Premium Survey, from £400, brings together a full roof inspection and thermal imaging. It also includes a drone inspection where applicable, a structural analysis and a same-day report. There is an in-person consultation as well, plus a follow-up 12 months later. You can ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address and a note of what you’ve noticed. For big commercial roofs, we quote on size and access. Common reasons to book are wet insulation beneath the membrane and missing or slipped insulation, across loft conversions, commercial roofs and flat roofs.

Somewhere as small as Ashampstead Green, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from ground level. Weather and airspace are checked before the visit. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

The report works through the roof section by section, from the coverings down to the gutters, with a note and a photo for each point. It records what’s sound as well as what is not.

Signs you need a thermal roof survey in Ashampstead Green

Flat roofs that have leaked for a while can have wet insulation under the covering. Knowing how much of the roof is affected helps decide between a local repair and more. Thermal images and moisture readings together can show the likely extent.

A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:

  • Stains that keep coming back
  • Damp around chimneys and parapets
  • Water that travels before it shows
  • Areas of a flat roof that may hold water

If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Church of St Clement, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

What to expect from a roof survey

How the survey works

The visit usually starts outside and finishes in the loft: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the roof space where it can be reached. All told, expect about one to two hours at most homes, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. Around Ashampstead Green, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so it helps to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.

  1. First we discuss the roof, any damp and the forecast for the visit.
  2. We look over the roof from wherever it is safe.
  3. We take thermal images of the roof and of the loft where we can reach it.
  4. Patterns that stand out are checked with moisture readings.
  5. Each image is set beside a normal photo and explained in the report.

Advice

When you need someone else

It helps to know what a survey won’t do before you book:

  • A structural engineer’s assessment
  • Readings unaffected by sun, shade or reflections
  • The condition of timbers we can’t see

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll tell you. The full list of what we check.

What this survey covers

  • Flat roofs
  • Commercial roofs
  • Insulated roof spaces
  • Loft conversions
  • Ceilings below the roof
  • Pitched roof slopes

How the survey changes by roof type

Loft insulation

Loft insulation is easily disturbed when people store things or run cables. The camera can show where it no longer covers the ceiling.

GRP fibreglass roofs

Water can get through cracked GRP into the deck. We check cracks by eye and use the images to see whether there is a pattern around them.

FAQs for Ashampstead Green

How do I find out if my home in Ashampstead Green is listed?

You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it is in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Is Ashampstead Green within the area you cover?

We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

How soon will I get the report?

The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email.

What will the report tell me?

It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, finishing with recommendations. The most urgent items are made clear.

Checking the roof from ground level

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.

A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
