Thermal imaging roof survey in Pevensey Bay, East Sussex
Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Pevensey Bay. We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
- Leaks far from where the stain appears
- Cold areas below the roof
- Damp patches with no obvious cause
What this survey cannot tell you
Before you book, it’s worth knowing what a survey will not do:
- Seeing water directly, as the camera shows temperature, not moisture
- Insulation values or heat loss calculations
- Readings unaffected by sun, shade or reflections
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will suggest the right survey. What a survey covers and does not.

Thermal roof survey in Pevensey Bay
Thermal imaging is part of our Premium Survey, which starts from £400. You also get a drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a report on the same day. An in-person consultation and a 12-month follow-up are included too. To book, just call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and what you’ve noticed. For big commercial roofs, we quote on size and access. We survey loft conversions, pitched roof slopes and commercial roofs, and the problems we are asked to look at most are wet areas near outlets and upstands and cold spots on ceilings under the roof.
Places like Pevensey Bay can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning each flight, along with the airspace and the weather.
Findings are set out part by part, from the coverings down to the gutters, with a note and a photo for each point. You’ll see the good as well as the bad.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses
We survey roofs for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. A written report with photos gives you a clear record of the roof, useful for planning maintenance.
Managing agents and residents’ management companies use roof surveys to plan maintenance. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait, which helps when budgeting.
What we do, step by step
Where it’s relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging. The whole visit usually takes about one to two hours for most houses, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Parking around Pevensey Bay is normally easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. On bungalows and lower roofs, much can be seen from the ground, with the loft showing the underside, while taller roofs may need other vantage points or the drone where it applies.
- We start with the roof, its history and any signs of damp or heat loss.
- We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
- A full inspection and thermal imaging are carried out together.
- We back up the thermal patterns with moisture readings.
- You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.
Before the survey
- Find any records of previous roof work
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent
- Leave side gates unlocked

Tips that help
From years of surveys, a few habits stand out as worth the effort:
- Clear leaves from outlets and gutters each autumn
- Talk to us about the weather when booking
- Keep the heating on as usual before a heat loss survey
- Keep a record of when stains appear
You can pass the report to a roofer so they can see where the problem areas seem to be. Because the images are paired with photos, it is easy to find each area on the roof.
Check loft insulation covers the whole area and hasn’t been disturbed. Insulation is often moved when people work in the loft space.
Pevensey Bay questions
Do you cover smaller places like Pevensey Bay?
Yes. Pevensey Bay is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is my home in Pevensey Bay listed or in a conservation area?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it is in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. It is a specialist roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 building survey. It focuses on the roof, so it sits alongside a building survey rather than replacing it.
Is thermal imaging included in your surveys?
It is part of the Premium Survey, from £400. An in-person consultation and a follow-up 12 months later are included too. For bigger commercial roofs, we quote on size.
What does the report include?
It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, backed by photographs. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely.
Can thermal imaging show missing insulation?
The camera can point to heat loss and gaps in insulation. The survey is not an energy rating or a heat loss calculation, but the report shows where to look more closely.
Do you use drones?
Yes, where it is applicable. Our sub-250g drone is flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID, and the airspace and weather are checked before every flight.
Leave it or get it looked at?
Wet insulation under a flat roof does not dry out on its own while the covering stays on. In time, it stops insulating properly and can damage the deck. Finding them early can mean a smaller job. Around Pevensey Bay, a leak in an older house can soak into timbers and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the roof fault itself.
Prices start from £150, inc. VAT, for a Basic Survey. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400, both including VAT. You will know the price for your roof before booking.

Loft insulation
Heat loss shows most clearly when it is warm inside and colder outside. We explain in the report how the conditions on the day affected what we saw.
Parapets, valleys and junctions
Problems where roof slopes and walls meet are often hidden. We combine a close visual check with the thermal images.
Flying and imaging in Pevensey Bay
The coast is about 1 mile or less from Pevensey Bay. Calm, dry conditions after a sunny day suit thermal imaging best, so the visit is planned around the forecast. If your home is older, it is worth knowing whether it is listed or in a conservation area before planning roof work. Listed building consent covers changes to a listed building’s special interest, and an Article 4 direction can bring extra controls in a conservation area.
Take a building like Pevensey and Westham CofE Primary School: a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. Take an older house close to St Wilfrid's Church Pevensey Bay: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.
