Thermal Roof Survey in Seven Kings
Find out what’s going on with the roof before you spend money on it. Thermal roof surveys in Seven Kings, with photos and a clear written report.
- Leaks that are hard to trace
- Heat escaping through the roof
- Thin or uneven insulation in the roof
What you can safely check yourself
You can learn a lot from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please do not climb up for a closer look.
Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
Thermal roof survey in Seven Kings: what you get
Your report sets out the thermal images alongside ordinary photographs, making it clear where on the roof each pattern is. We explain what each pattern may mean, what the moisture readings found and what we recommend. With a Premium Survey, the report reaches you the same day. You can talk the findings through with us at the in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. If you’re worried about water that travels before it shows and areas losing heat at the eaves and junctions, a survey will tell you what’s going on.
London roofs sit shoulder to shoulder in terraces and blocks, so privacy and neighbours matter as much as the view. Images are taken to show the roof we’re surveying, with care for neighbours’ privacy, in Seven Kings as anywhere. Mention access, height and anything unusual about the building when you book. Steep slopes, tall chimneys and rear additions are where the extra view helps most.
Most points in the report come with a picture, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

Tips from our surveys
Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:
- Use the report as a baseline for later checks
- Keep a record of when stains appear
- Heat the home normally on the days before
- Check outlets after heavy rain
Where a pattern cannot be confirmed, the report says what could help, for instance electronic leak detection or a roofer opening up a small section.
Deal with small splits and lifted seams promptly. Water that gets under a covering can spread a long way before it shows.
Seven Kings questions
Is drone flying allowed in Seven Kings?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Across London there are restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, plus restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying, though the rest of the survey goes ahead either way.
How do I find out if my home in Seven Kings is listed?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
How experienced are you?
More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years, across London and South East England.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes. Photos are taken throughout the survey, and the report uses them to show each finding alongside our recommendations.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Just tell us the days that suit you.
What will the report tell me?
You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos. The most urgent items are made clear.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is frequently shared, so whoever owns or manages the building needs to agree access. We inspect only the parts we’re allowed to reach.
How it works
When we arrive, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you want to find out. After that, we look at everything we can see safely, using the ground, windows, the loft and a drone where it applies. The survey typically takes between one and two hours at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. In Seven Kings, as in much of London, a good many properties are flats or terraces without side access, so the back of the roof is often seen from upstairs windows, from inside or, where a flight is allowed, from the air. If the building has a managing agent or access rules, tell us as you book.
- We start with the roof, its history and any signs of damp or heat loss.
- We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
- We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
- Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
- You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.
How to prepare

Thermal roof surveys in Seven Kings: local notes
In outer London, interwar semis with hipped, tiled roofs sit alongside older slate-roofed terraces. Hips, bay roofs and later loft conversions are typical of those semis, if your home is one of them. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. The wider area around Seven Kings has a long history of building, with Valentines Mansion about 1.4 miles west. If yours is one of the older homes, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.
For site and facilities teams at buildings like Downshall Primary School, big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once. Shop and office owners around The Brewery may find that thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof. Parking in Seven Kings, as in most of London, takes a little planning: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space as you book, as a space near the door can’t be promised.

- A formal energy assessment
- What’s inside walls or under coverings, without opening up
