Independent thermal roof surveys in Stonebridge Green

Thermal roof survey in Stonebridge Green: what you get

Thermal imaging is often most useful on flat roofs, from small extensions to large commercial roofs. Patterns can suggest where water is trapped under the covering. Pitched roofs with slates or tiles are often harder to read, because of the air space beneath, so we combine the camera with an inspection from the loft where there’s safe access. We survey loft conversions, insulated roof spaces and ceilings below the roof, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are cold spots on ceilings under the roof and areas losing heat at the eaves and junctions.

In a village or hamlet like Stonebridge Green, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Weather and airspace are looked at before the visit. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

The written findings come by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

Why get it checked now?

Without thermal imaging, the only way to see how far water has spread is frequently to open up the roof. That helps you and your roofer decide what really needs replacing. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Stonebridge Green, driving rain gets into any weakness, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Why book us in Stonebridge Green

  • Thermal imaging and drone inspection where they help

Can I check my roof myself?

It helps to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when you book and it will help the survey.

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery. That’s where a survey comes in.

Surveys for landlords and agents in Stonebridge Green

An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord. Access is agreed with the tenant ahead of time.

For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out in order of urgency where relevant.

Flying and imaging in Stonebridge Green

Many older homes in Kent have handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles held by pegs through two holes, and tile-hanging on their upper walls. The county’s older buildings also include oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail. Where the drone is part of the survey, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.

Historic houses such as Godinton House, about 5 miles south-east, show how far back building around Stonebridge Green goes. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings. If you look after a building like Egerton Church of England Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. For an older house near a landmark like Church of St James, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

What a thermal roof survey does not cover

To be straight with you, a roof survey has limits:

  • Clear results when the conditions on the day are poor
  • Whether the deck or roof structure is strong enough
  • Confirming water without moisture readings

How it works

Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings in a report with photographs, sent to you by email. As for time on site, it typically takes about one to two hours at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. For a village or hamlet like Stonebridge Green, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from the loft where there is safe access and from the roof where it is safe.

  1. We start with the roof, its history and any signs of damp or heat loss.
  2. We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
  3. We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
  4. Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
  5. The Premium report reaches you the same day, and we go through it with you in person.

No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
