Thermal roof surveys for Tuesley homes and businesses

Thermal roof survey in Tuesley

Thermal imaging is part of our Premium Survey, which starts from £400. It also includes a drone inspection where applicable, a structural analysis and a same-day report. An in-person consultation and a 12-month follow-up are included too. You can call 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address and a note of what you’ve noticed. For big commercial roofs, we quote on size and access. We survey pitched roof slopes, insulated roof spaces and commercial roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are damp around roof outlets and upstands and thin or uneven insulation in the roof.

Older buildings in small places like Tuesley may be listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

After the visit, you get a written report with photographs, sent by email. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

Why act early in Tuesley

Heat lost through a roof costs money every winter. Thermal images can show where insulation is missing or has slipped, so improvements can go where they’re needed. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.

One thing that affects the price is the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Common questions in Tuesley

Do you cover Tuesley?

Yes, Tuesley is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Tuesley?

For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.

Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?

No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.

What conditions are best for thermal imaging?

The weather makes a real difference. It works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof surface and little wind. Rain and strong wind can make the images less clear, so we talk through the forecast when you book.

What happens after the survey?

The report comes by email, and you decide the next step: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in if we are looking inside or in the loft. Access is agreed with you as you book.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.

Airspace, weather and Tuesley roofs

If your survey includes the drone, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung walls are typical of Surrey’s older houses. Some old buildings in Surrey and Sussex have Horsham stone slab roofs. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.

With Loseley Park about 3.4 miles north, the area around Tuesley has a long history. Close-up aerial shots and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it. Anyone responsible for a site like Godalming College will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Tuesley is about 6 miles south of Guildford, in Surrey. We survey roofs in Tuesley and the rest of Surrey, as part of our work across London and the South East. Tuesley is one of the places in Surrey we cover for thermal roof surveys. We also survey roofs in Guildford.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Tuesley

Letting agents can arrange access with tenants, at a time agreed in advance. Surveys run on any day of the week, which can make access easier.

Managing agents and residents’ management companies use roof surveys to plan maintenance. Recommendations are set out by urgency where it matters, which helps with budgets and planning.

When to book a survey in Tuesley

After a long-running leak, insulation under a flat roof can stay wet. Owners want to know how far it has spread before deciding what to do. A thermal survey, checked with moisture readings, can give a much clearer picture.

Common reasons to book include:

  • Wet areas near outlets and upstands
  • Patches of heat loss across the roof
  • Cold spots on ceilings under the roof
  • Stains that keep coming back

For an older house near a landmark such as St John the Evangelist's Church, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • Whether the price includes VAT
  • What happens after the report arrives
  • Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
  • When you’ll get the report

What a good roof survey covers

Can I check my roof myself?

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.

A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are frequently out of sight.

What affects the cost of thermal roof surveys

Several things affect the price of a survey:

  • The size of the roof
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets

Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, inc. VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you want to find out.

What we need to know

Here’s what helps us most when you contact us:

  • When you need the report by
  • Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
  • The address and postcode of the property
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside

Every survey is priced before it is booked, so you know the cost up front. Prices start from £400, including VAT. For a price for your roof, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

How it works

We’ll ask a few questions first, like when any problem began and what work has been done before. Then the inspection itself takes about 1–2 hours for most houses, or half a day or so for a commercial building. Rural addresses near Tuesley can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.

  1. First we discuss the roof, any damp and the forecast for the visit.
  2. We look over the roof from wherever it is safe.
  3. Thermal images are taken across the roof and, where there is safe access, in the loft.
  4. We take moisture readings where the images suggest a problem.
  5. The report pairs each thermal image with a photo and explains what it suggests.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Jot down any questions you want answered
  • If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent
