Why it’s worth a survey now in Battersea

A drone record gives you a baseline. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It is useful for planning maintenance over the years. London’s older roofs often have bitumen felt underlay or none at all, so once the slates or flashings let water past, little stops it reaching ceilings. Left alone, that means wet timbers and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the roof fault itself.

A Basic Survey starts from £150, with VAT included. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, both including VAT. You will know the price for your survey before booking.

Drone roof survey in Battersea

We carry out drone roof surveys in Battersea and across London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly on any day of the week. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email. If you are worried about tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack and gaps where slates or tiles have gone, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on large and complex roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and chimney stacks alike.

In London’s terraces and conversions, roofs are packed close together, which makes care around neighbours part of the job. We take care to focus on the roof we have been asked to look at. Mention access, height and anything unusual about the building when you book. The extra view helps most on steep slopes, tall stacks and rear additions.

You can share the report with anyone who needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent.

Drone roof surveys around Battersea

The flight restriction zone around London Heliport in Battersea covers Battersea, or comes right up to its edge. We ask the heliport for permission before flying there, and only fly if it’s given. Many homes in inner London are Victorian and Edwardian terraces, often with Welsh slate roofs. Behind many of their parapets sit butterfly roofs and valley gutters that cannot be seen from the pavement. Shared chimney stacks, party-wall upstands and lead work come with this kind of house. Steep or complicated roofs are frequently hard to see from ground level, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.

If you live in an older home near Clapham Welsh Presbyterian Church, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. A roof leak in a hotel or guest house around Battersea means lost rooms as well as repairs, so it’s worth knowing the roof’s condition. Carlyle's House, about 1.4 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Battersea. For older roofs nearby, a look from the air or with a thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition.

The survey, step by step

When we arrive, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you want to find out. After that, we look at everything we can see safely. The survey normally takes about 1–2 hours for most houses; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. Many London properties are flats or terraces with no side access, so rear slopes are viewed from windows, the loft or, where a flight is allowed, by drone. Mention any building rules, key holders or managing agents when you book.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
  3. We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. We email a written report with the photographs and our recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
  • Check pets are kept safely away
  • Point out any leaks or damp patches

Battersea: your questions answered

Is parking a problem for a survey in Battersea?

It can be, so it’s useful to tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when booking. That way the visit can be planned around it.

How do I find out if my home in Battersea is listed?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it is worth checking before planning any.

Are there drone restrictions in central London?

Parts of central London are restricted, including areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs, where flights need permission from NATS. We check before every flight and seek permission where needed.

Is a drone roof survey a thermal survey?

Our drone takes close-up photographs of the roof. Thermal imaging is a separate check, included in our Premium Survey.

What happens after the survey?

You’ll get the report by email, with photos and clear recommendations. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.

When does the report arrive?

It depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. The report is emailed to you.

Will you photograph next door’s garden?

The camera stays on your roof. We inspect only the roof you’ve asked about. If your roof is shared, it is useful to tell your neighbours about the visit.

What affects the price in Battersea

A few things affect what a survey costs:

  • Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
  • House, block, shop or office
  • Which survey package you book
  • The size of the roof

A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.

What we need to know

What helps most when you contact us:

  • Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
  • Your timetable, such as an exchange date
  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel

Getting a price is simple: just call 07833 053749 or email us, tell us about the property and we’ll point you to the right survey. The price is agreed up front.

Can I check my roof myself?

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Don’t go up yourself.

You can learn a lot from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please do not climb up for a closer look.

Useful tips for Battersea property owners

Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Tips:

  • Shut pets inside while we fly
  • Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet
  • Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone
  • Clear a spot on the drive or lawn

There’s a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit.

Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, and early repairs keep water out.
